Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe Was Not Able To Appear Before The Presidential Commission

Former president Mahinda Rajapakshe was unable to

appear  before  the Presidential Commission investigating into the serious acts of fraud and corruption(PRECIFAC) today (17) his lawyers have informed the Commission.

The commission has requested the former president to appear before the commission to record a statement regarding financial loss experienced by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation as a result of the telecasing of former president's ads during the presidential campaign.

The former president requested another date to record a satement before the commission.

A 71 year old person was killed after colliding with a

Van while crossing the  Dambulla-Kurunagala road in panagolla junction today (16) according to thr sources.


Police have arrested the Van driver regarding the accident.

An Ayurveda Student Had Drowned And Died ,Another Was Missing While Bathing In A Canal

An Ayurveda  student had drowned and died   and a fellow  student has been reported as missing while bathing in Katawela Ela(Canal) in Ganemulla,Gampaha(Western Province)this afternoon(16)according to the Police.

The deceased student had been identified as a 21 year old resident of Kosgoda and the disappeared student had been identified as a 22 year old resident of Hekiththa area  .

Police have launched a search operation to find out the missing student.

A Female Arrested In Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court Premises With 16 Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested a 25 year old female with 16 grammes of Heroin in her possession in Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court premises today(16).

The suspected female who is being questioned by the Police had been identified as a resident of Beruwela area.

She is due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court tomorrow(17).
