Attorney General Opposes Granting IBail To Imprisoned Former DIG Anura Senanayake

Attorney General has today
(08)informed the Colombo High Court that he opposes the granting of bail to Former senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)Anura Senanayake who is in remand prison over the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen .

The decision of the Attorney General was informed during the court proceedings held today (08)at Colombo High Court to consider the bail application submitted by imprisoned former DIG Anura Senanayake.

The senior state attorney dilan ratnayake has urged the court that if the court granted bail for the former DIG Senanayake who hide the evidences of former rugby player's murder it will impact the witnesses.

The court has postponed the case until 07th of April.

Consumer Affairs Authority To Issue A Gazette Notification In Midnight Tonight Regarding Fixing Maximum Retail Prices For Rice

The consumer affairs authority is due to
issue a gazette notification regarding fixing of maximum retail price (MRP) for three varieties of rice with effect   from midnight tonight .

Accordingly the maximum retail price of  a kilo of Nadu Rice will be RS.72, a kilo of raw rice RS.70 and a kilo of Samba rice(excluding Keeri and suduru samba)Rs 80 .

The gazette notification will be issued under the extraordinary gazette 2005/24/.

Principle Had Expelled Three Students In Ginigathhena Central Collage Over A Sexual Abuse Case

The principal of the Ginigathhena Central Collage in.Hatton
(Upcountry)had expelled three grade 12 students of the school over an  attempt made  to sexually abuse a fellow student in grade 10 of the same school.

Ginigathhena Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Five Members Of A Same Family Remanded Over Selling Narcotic Drugs

Badulla Magistrate has today (08) remanded Five Persons of a same family who were arrested over  selling of narcotic drugs, until 21st of February  .

The five suspects remanded today  are  brothers and sisters of a same family residing  in Badulupitiya,Madapathana and Badulla areas it has been reported.

Two Business Establishments In Bulathsinghala Area Had Been Damaged Due To A Sudden Fires

No casualties had been reported due to the fires according to the Police.

A Wayamba Campus Lecturer Has Assaulted Three Undegraduates Of The Same Campus

Three second  year undergraduates attached to the Wayamba Campus were   injured and hospitalized after been  assaulted by a Lecturer of the same Campus yesterday(07) .

The injured undergraduates were admitted to the Sandalankawa Hospital for treatment and later discharged from the hospital.

The reason behind the assault not yet been revealed.

Pannala Police are conducting an investigation  on the incident based on a complaint made by injured undergraduates it has been revealed.
