A Person Has Died After Drowning In A Swimming Pool

A person has died and another person hospitalized
in an unconcious state  after drowning in a swimming pool belonging to a Tourist Hotel in Teldeniya(Central Province)while bathing  today(07).

Both persons were admitted to the Degana Hospital in an unconcious state while bathing in the Swimming Pool and one died after admission  to the Hospital .

The  condition of the person who is  receiving treatment in the hospital
Following the countryincident is not serious it has been reported.

Police are conducting an investigation on the incident .

Ten Indian Fishermen Were Arrested While Illegally Fishing In Local Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested ten Indian Fishermen while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters near Delft Island (North) it has been reported.

Along with the Indian Fishermen Navy Personal have arrested the boat they were in according to reports.The arrested fishermen had been  identified as residents of Rameshwaram in Southern India.

Joint Opposition MP Wimal Weerawansha And Another Official Further Remanded Over Misusing Of State Vehicles

Imprisoned Joint Opposition MP and leader of the National Freedom Front Wimal Weerawansha along with former Deputy General Manager of State Engineering Corporation Samantha Lokuhannadi who were arrested and remanded over misusing of state owned vehicles have been further remanded today(07) until 20th of February by the  Chief Magistrate of Colombo Fort .

Both the suspects were produced before the Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate this morning.

Three Persons With Stock Of Kerala Cannabis Arrested In Anamaduwa

Police have arrested three persons with
147 kilo grammes of Kerala Cannabis in pallama area at Anamaduwa yesterday (06).

The stock of Kerala Cannabis which smuggled into the country from India was recovered buried in a land.

Government Nursing Officers Association Urged Medical Council To Implement Court Verdict On SAITM

Government Nursing Officers Association has yesterday (06)
urged  the Sri Lanka Medical Council to implement the Court of Appeals verdict  on registering medical graduates of Malabe Private Medical Collage(SAITM) without any delay.

The verdict given by the Court of Appeal regarding registering private medical collage students in Malabe is a fair one and Sri Lanka Medical Council as a responsible body of registering medical graduates in Sri Lanka should implement the verdict without making deceisions based on political agendas and trade union influence, president of the Nursing Officers Association Saman Rathnapriya has stated.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday he has stated that his union as well as the  unions of professions supplementary to medicine and para medical services will support the court of appeals decision .
