An Organized Gang Had Damaged Four Buddhist Statues In Trincomalee

An organized gang had severely damaged four
historical Buddhist Statues located in four places at Trincomalee District (Eastern Province)in wee hours  of 07th of January (saturday)and 08th of January (sunday)it has been reported.

Accordingly  gangs damaged the Buddhist statues located in Uppuveli -Wilgamvehera ,,Morawewa,Gomarankadawela and Pulmudai areas according to Police.

Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Seventeen More Persons Were Remanded Over Clash In Hambanthota

Seventeen persons arrested today(08)over damaging public properties in Hambanthota area(Southern
Province) yesterday(07) and violating court orders were remanded after being produced them before the Hambanthota Magistrate Court.

Accordingly Thirteen suspects were remanded until 09th of January and four suspects were remanded until 10h of January .

Yesterday(07) Twenty Three persons were arrested and remsnded over same allegations.

G.C.E Advanced Level Examination Results Of Eighty Students Temporarily Suspended

The Department Of Examinations has temporarily
suspended the G.C.E Advanced Level examination results of Eighty Students with immediatte effect.

The results of these students were suspended as they have sat for the examination which was held last August fraudulently in remote areas without sitting in their scheduled areas according to the Examination Department.

The Department has also suspended the services of two school principals who allowed some of these students to face the examination in remote areas.

The G.C.E Advanced Level Examination  results were  issued yesterday (07) .


A Sudden Fire In Hatton-Maskeliya Area Destroyed 15 Acres Of Land

Around 15 acres of land near "Mocka" tea estate in Hatton-Maskeliya (Upcountry) had been destroyed so far due to a sudden fire erupted there today (08)
according to reports.

Police along with the residents of the area are trying to douse the fire at present.

The cause of the fire hnot yet been revealed and Police have suspected the dry weather condition may have caused the fire.
