Sri Lanka To Be Self Sufficent In Sugar Production By The Year 2025-Finance Minister
A programne will be implemented soon which enable Sri Lanka to self sufficient in Sugar Production by the year 2025 according to the Minister Of Finance Ravi Karunanayake.
Under the first step of this programme 50% of the total sugar requirement in the country will be locally produced by the year 2020 the Minister has stressed.
Fifteen Factories will be established in the country in view of promoting sugar cane production and to increase the sugar production in the country he has stated.
The annual consumption of sugar in Sri Lanka is 700,000 metric tonnes but the annual local sugar production in the country is 56,000 metric tonnes it has been revealed.
Through production of sugar requirement in the country locally can be saved Rs.35 billion annualy which spent to import sugar to Sri Lanka Finance Minister has said.

Attorney General Has Filed Indictments Against Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe And Three Others
The Attorney General Has today (19)filed indictments against former Minister Basil Rajapakshe and three others at Colombo High Court over alleged misappropriation of state funds in the "Divi Naguma" Department during the previous regime.
The indictments were filed when the case on misappropriation of state funds in the "Divi Naguma"Department was taken up for hearing today.
The former Minister Rajapakshe and three others were arrested and remanded over the allegation on 22nd of April 2015.

Power Cuts Will Be Stopped From Today-Ministry Of Power And Energy
The Ministry Of Power and Energy has stated that there will be no more power cuts from today (19) as the second genereator of the Norochchalai Coal Power Plant which broke down on last Sunday has been restored .

A Suspicion Arisen Whether The Details Of A Confidential Letter Signed By President Leaked To Former President Through The Resigned Head Of Bribery Commission -Cabinet Spokesman
President Maithripala Sirisena had criticized the activities of three institutions including the Bribery Commission last week following a controversy arisen after the former Director General of the Bribery Commission who had resigned last Monday informed the former president Mahinda Rajapakshe regarding a decision taken by the Commission to inspect alleged bank accounts stated as there at banks in Dubai belonging to former president's family members it has been revealed during the Cabinet Briefing hrld today (19) at Government Information Department in Narahenpita.
There's a suspicion that the details of the confidential letter signed by President Sirisena recently allowing Bribery Commission to inspect the Dubai based bank accounts belonging to Rajapakshe Family may have leaked to former President through the resigned Director General of Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wikramasinghe the co cabinet spokesman Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated at the briefing.

President Has Accepted The Resignation Of Director General Of Bribery Commission-Appointed A New Acting Director General
President Maithripala Sirisena Has this evening Accepted the resignation letter sent by Director General of Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wikramasinghe.
The Director General Wikramasinghe has tendered her resignation to the President last Monday(17).
She was appointed to the post by President Maithripala Sirisena on February 2015.
Meanwhile after President has Accepted the resignation letter of Dilrukshi Dias Wikramasinghe the Deputy Director General of the Bribery Commission Sunethra Jayasinghe has been appointed as the acting Director General Of Bribery Commission since this evening it has been reported.
