Daily Wage Of Tea Estate Workers Has Been Increased From Rs.620 Yo Rs.730

Minister Of  Labour John Seneviratne has today (05) informed the Patliament that the Estate Trade Unions representing Estate Workers have agreed to increase the daily wage of a Tea Estate Worker from Rs.620 to Rs.730.

A large number of Tea Estate Workers had staged protests since last week by demanding to increase their daily wage to Rs.1000 which the Estate Owners turned down by citing risky Business Enviornmrnt.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe Had Met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi In New Delhi

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe who is currently in New Delhi to attend the Global Economic Summit and Indian Economic Summit had met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi this evening and held bi lateral talks .

Sri Lankan Prime Minister and delegation had also met Indian President Pranab Mukherjee,Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Prime Minister Wikramasinghe is due to address the opening session  of the India Economic Summit tomorrow (06).


Heavy Traffic Reported In Colombo Fort Area Due To A Protest March

A heavy traffic has been reported in Colombo Fort area this evening due to a protest march organized by Government Teachers and Principals who blocked the road during the march.

The Teachers and Pricipals had conducted the protest march by demanding a salary increase and make  contract based Teachers permanant in their profession the Trade Unions have stated.

Pension Payments To Be Paid Tomorrow(06)

Pension payment will be paid tomorrow(06) to all the Pensioners  in the Island according to the Department Of Pensions.

The department has decided to pay the Pension payments in this month earlier then the schedule in view of the International Pensioners Day which falls this Saturday(08).

Around 200 Flights To Be Cancelled During The Closure Of Katunayake Air Port From January To April Next Year For Maintenance Work

Image result for katunayake airportAround 200 Flights are due to be cancelled as a result of the  scheduled eight hours per day  closure of  Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port from January to April in 2017 the Sri Lankan Air Lines has announced today(05).

The Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Air Port is scheduled to be closed for eight hours per day from 8.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m which started from 05th of  January up to April next year   due to a maintenance work of the main runaway.

The Sri Lankan Air Lines is estimated that the Air Lines may have recorded an  income loss around  US Dollars 47 million  due to the cancellation of flights during the maintenance work.
