Prime Minister To Leave New Zealand Today (29) For An Official Visit

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinhe is due to leave  New Zealand today (29) for a three day official state visit .

During the state visit to New Zealand  the first by a Sri Lankan head of state ,Prime Minister Wikramasinhe will hold bi lateral talks with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.He is also due to attend official,business and community meetings organized in capital Wellington ,Auckland and Waikato cities.

Prime Minister will be acompanied by nine member delegation including  his wife Professor Maithree Wikramasinhe ,four ministers and state ministers and four of his official staff members for the tour it has been reported.

A Senior Veddha Community Member Had Been Killed Due To A Stone Attack At Dambana

A 78 year old person belonging to the Veddha Community(Indigenous Community) had been killed due to a stone attack occurred at Dambana today (28).

The critically injured senior Veddha member had succumbed to his injuries on admission to Badulla General Hospital.

Mahiyanganaya Police had arrested the suspect who attacked the deceased and after being produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate Court he has been remanded until tomorrow (29).

The deceased had been attacked by the suspect over a family dispute the Mahiyanganaya Police have stated.

Sri Lanka To Manufacture Essential Western Drugs Locally By 2020

Twenty four local drug manufacturing Corporations along with the officials of State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) had met the officials of the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine recently and discussed the ways that produce all the essential western drugs locally by the year 2020 it has been reported.

At present around three thousand Drug varieties are being imported to Sri Lanka annually at a cost of Rs.45 billion according to the Health Ministry.

Already three local Drug Manufacturers has started manufacturing western drugs locally and the authorities are planning to establish new Drug Manufacturing Plants in the island in view of manufacturing all the essential Drugs locally by the year 2020 the Health Ministry has stated.

Three Faculties Of Rajarata University Had Been Closed Due To A Water Shortage

Three faculties belonging to Rajarata University(North Central Province) had been closed  by the authorities due to a severe shortage of water prevailing in the North Central Province these days as a result of the drought.

Accordingly faculty of applied sciences in Mihintale and social and human science faculty were closed indefinitely and the faculty of Management  Science will be closed until 09th of October according to the sources.

The National Water supplies And Drainage Board has not supplied sufficient amount of water to the Rajarata  University, Authorities have stated.
