Appeal Court Had Issued Notices To Finance Minister And Ministry Officials Over A Beer Issue
The Court of Appeal has today issued a notices to Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and the Ministry Officials to appear before the court on 12th of October to give explanation on reason behind the granting of tax concession to a Beer Company.
The Appeal Court has issued the notices after taken into consideration the Rit Motion filed by Six Buddhist Monks against granting tax concession to the Beer Company.
The petitioners had requested through the motion to abolish the decision taken by the Finance Ministry to grant tarriff tax concession to a Beer Company for four month period and spend the tax revanue of Rs.600 million lost due to the tax concession for the benefit of the public.

Imprisoned MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage Was Released On Bail
Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage who was arrested and remanded over money laundering charges including purchasing of a Rs.27 million worth house at kynsey road in Colombo from money earned tnrough illegal means had been released on bail today (27).
The MP was released on bail after been produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate this morning.He was released on four personal bails of Rs.10 million each and a cash bail of Rs.50,000.

India To Invest US Dollars 2 Billion Investment In Sri Lanka-Indian Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
The Indian Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman has stated today (27) in Colombo that the Indian Government is looking to invest US Dollars 2 billion investment in Sri Lanka despite the Sri Lankan government's decision to scrap the Indo-Sri Lanka joint venture coal power plant project in Sampur.
Speaking to the Media after the end of her three day state visit to Sri Lanka the Indian Minister has stated that the Indian government is open for discussions with Sri Lankan government and business community on the proposed Economic and Technological Cirporation Agreement(ETCA).
The Sri Lankan Minister of International Trade Malik Samarawikrama has stated that the proposed ETCA Agreement will be opened up a market of 1.25 billion people in India.
Both Ministers had stated that the discussions on ETCA now in the final stage and it will be signed soon.

Two Police Constables Were Killed Due To An Accident Occurred In Katana
Two police constables had been killed following the Motor Bicycle they were in collided with a Lorry near the Police Academy in Katana(In Western Province) area this morning.
The Two constables had succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to Negambo Hospital in critical condition it has been reported.The deceased were identified as a 27 and 46 year old policemen attached to Katana Police.
Katana Police had arrested the Lorry Driver regarding the accident.
