Government Is Considering To Shift The Meethotamulla Garbage Dump To Puttalam

Government is considering to shift the garbage dump at Meethotamulla (In Colombo) to Aruwakkalu in Puttalam District (North Western Province).

Authorities are of the view that the garbage dump in Meethotamulla which contains the garbage collected from Colombo can be used to fill limestone pits in Aruwakkalu Area it has been reported.

Earlier government has taken a decision to shift the garbage dump to a private land in Ja Ela ,but due to the protests of the residents  there that decision has been suspended.

Around 800 tonnes of garbage collected from Colombo are in the dump at present and due to this residents around the area  are being faced several health problems the reports have stated.

A Wild Elephant Had Trampled To Death A Person At Uhana

A wild elephant had trampled to death a person at Thissapura in Uhana Area(Eastern Province) early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as a 55 year old resident at Uhana Area  in Komariya.

The body of the deceased had been sent to Ampara Hospital for an Autopsy.

FCID Had Recorded A Statement From MP Wimal Weerawansha Regarding Irrregularities

The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) has today (26) questioned the leader of the National Freedom Front  MP Wimal Weerawansha over an allegation leveled against him.

The FCID Officials had recorded a statement regarding irregularities occurred  at the Ministry Of Housing and Construction during the  previous regime  it has been reported.

A Peradeniya University Undergraduate Had Been Killed Due To An Accident Occurred In Kandy-Galaha Road

An  Undergraduate of University Of Peradeniya has been killed early this morning as the Motor Bicycle driven by him had collided with a Lorry at Kandy-Galaha Road it has been reported.

The critically injured Undergraduate had succumbed to his injuries on admission to Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.

The Police have arrested the Lorry Driver over the incident and he is due to be produced before Kandy Magistrate Court.

Colombo High Court Issued A Notice To Former General Secretary Of UNP To Appear Before Court On 19th Of October

The Attorney General had indicted the former UNP General Secretary  on 09th of September over using fraudulent signatures of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena in a letter prepared during the Presidential Campaign.
