President Has Appointed President's Counsal

Image result for HEMANTHA WARNAKULASURIYAPresident Maithripala Sirisena has yesterday (01)appointed the President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya to the Director Board of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission(TRC) .

The president has handed over the letter of appointment in this regard to President's Counsel Warnakulasuriya yesterday evening.

One of the Sri Lanka's leading Criminal Lawyers, Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has took oaths as a lawyer on 1972 and began his practice at Colombo Magistrate Courts.He was appointed as a President's Counsel on 2006.

Speaker Has Signed The Right To Information Act To Make It Effective- Minister Karunathilake

Image result for sri lanka parliamentThe Parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has signed the right to information act yesterday (01) to make it effective according to the Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Of Media and Parliamentary Reforms Gayantha Karunathilake.

The signing of the act which has been passed in the Parliament recently was delayed due to the fact that the speaker was out of the country for medical treatment the Minister has stressed.

Higher Education Minister Has Increased The Retirement Age Of Non Academic Staff

Image result for retirementThe Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella has decided to increase the retirement age of Non Academic Staff members to 60 years from 55 years according to the Higher Education Ministry.

This decision has been taken by the Minister as per the request made by the Non Academic Staff members the Minister has stated.

Accordingly the authorities have amended  the clauses of University Act to enable to implement the new retirement age of non Academic Staffers.

The retirement age of University Lecturers will remain as 65 years the Ministry has stated.

Two Cousins Had Succumbed To Their Injuries After Setting Themselves On Fire

Image result for fireTwo cousin sisters had succumbed to their injuries after setting themselves on fire yesterday (01) over a love affair at madolsima area in Badulla it has been reported.

The two cousins in the age of 17 years  set themselves on fire yesterday after one girl's father had complained to the police on a love affair her daughter had with a boy the reports have stated.

The two girls had received severe burn injuries due to setting themselves on fire and one girl died yesterday due to the injuries followed by the other girl today.

Madolsima Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.
