Government To Limit The Importation Of Three Wheelers To The Country.

The Minister of Transport and civil aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva has stated today (22) that the government would limit the importation of three wheelers popularly known as "tuk tuk" to the country as there are more than enough three whealers on the roads.

Addressing a function held in Colombo today (22)to introduce a new three wheeler improvedwith safety features,The minister says a bill will be submitted to the parliament in future to implement laws to fixing seat belts in  three wheelers for the safety of it's passangers .

It is estimated that around 1.5 million three wheelers are there in sri lankan roads at present the transport minister has stressed.

The Newly Revised Bus Fares Have Announced

The Ministry Of Transport and Civil Aviation along with the National Transport Commission had today(22) announced the Revised Annual Bus Fares due to be granted with effect from 01st of August this year.

Accordingly both Private and Sri Lanka Transport Board buses are allowed to increase the bus fares by 6%.

Meanwhile the expressway bus fares too are due to be increases with effect from 01st of August.The new bus fares for expressways are as follows.

Kaduwela to Mathara- Rs.490
Maharagama to Mathara-Rs- 470
Maharagama to Galle- Rs- 390

The National Transport Commission has stated that stern action will be taken against those bus operators who have charged bus fares more than the approved rates.

Several Areas Are Affected Due To The 10.5 Hour Water Cut Imposed Today (22)

Due to the 10.5 hour water cut imposed by National Water Supply's and Drainage Board in several parts of the Western Province today(22) from 8 a.m to 6.30 p.m, those areas have severely affected as the power supply too temporarily suspended due to the water cut it has been reported.  

Accordingly water board has imposed a water cut in Wadduwa,Payagala,Benthota,Katukurunda,Waskaduwa,Pothupitiya,Moronthuduwa,Kaluthara,Nagoda,Bombuwala,Maggona,Beruwala,Kaluwamodara,Moragalla,Dharga town,Aluthgama and Pilimnawatte areas today.

One Child Had Died And Three Others Of The Same Family Were Hospitalized Due To A Food Poisioning

Four children of the same family at ethalawetunawewa in kahatagasdigiliya area (in North Central  Province)were admitted to Kahatagasdigiliya Hospital yesterday(21)due to a food poisoning and one of the children has died after admission it has been reported.

A six year old girl has died due to the food poisoning and three other children of her family in the ages of 11.16 and 17 years have been transferred to Anuradhapura General Hospital for further treatment.

Kahatagasdigiliya Police  are conducting an investigations on the incident.
