The Ministry Of Transport and Civil Aviation along with the National Transport Commission had today(22) announced the Revised Annual Bus Fares due to be granted with effect from 01st of August this year.Accordingly both Private and Sri Lanka Transport Board buses are allowed to increase the bus fares by 6%.
Meanwhile the expressway bus fares too are due to be increases with effect from 01st of August.The new bus fares for expressways are as follows.
Kaduwela to Mathara- Rs.490
Maharagama to Mathara-Rs- 470
Maharagama to Galle- Rs- 390
The National Transport Commission has stated that stern action will be taken against those bus operators who have charged bus fares more than the approved rates.
