Airport Customs Officers Have Detained A Sri Lankan Who Had Attempted To Smuggle 600 Grammes Of Gold Stored In His Slippers
The Air Port Customs Officers have today(14) detained a resident of Katugasthota(In Central Province) while preparing to board a flight to Mumbai,India with 600 grammes of Gold concealed inside of his slippers at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Air Port.
The value of the detained stock of Gold is estimated as Rs.2.9 million according to the Customs Officers.
The Airport Customs Officers have forfeited the stock of Gold found in possession of the suspect and fined Rs.100,000 from the suspect.

A Group Of School Children Attached To A Sripura School Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack
A Group of school children attached to Sripura Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya(Collage) in Sripura,Padaviya(In North Central Province) have been injured and hospitalized this evening due to a Wasp Attack according to the Sripura Police.
Wasps have been reported as attacked the School Children at the School Premises during study hours.
The injured children are currently receiving treatment at Sripura Provincial Hospital .

What are throat ulcers?
Throat ulcers are a condition in which sores or lesions form in the back of the throat. If the affected tissues swell, they can potentially block the airway, creating a life-threatening situation.Throat ulcers are usually caused by untreated respiratory infections or by disorders of the tonsils or adenoids. Seek immediate medical care for serious symptoms, such as blocked airway, choking or severe difficulty breathing, which may be combined with pale or blue lips and fast heart rate (tachycardia), high fever (higher than 101 degrees Fahrenheit), chest pain, sudden swelling of the tongue or throat structures, change in level of consciousness or alertness, or a change in mental status or sudden behavior change.
Seek prompt medical care at the first appearance of throat ulcers, even without other symptoms.

- Cough
- Coughing up clear, yellow, light brown, or green mucus
- Difficulty breathing

- White patches on the tongue or mucus membranes of the mouth

Majority Of Pregnant Mothers In Government Clinics Avoid Taking Full Iron Tablet Course-Dr.Renuka Jayathissa
According to a latest survey carriedout by the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indeginous Medicine around 73% of the pregnant mothers who are attending government hospital maternity clinics avoid consuming 90 tablet Iron Course (Folic Acid) issued free of charge through the clinics in view of preventing Anemia among mothers and new born infants.
Only 27% of the pregnant mothers are reported as consuming full Iron Tablet Course according to Nutritionist and community physician attached to Medical Research Institute in Colombo Dr.Renuka Jayathissa.
Due to this situation Anemia among pregnant mothers and new born infants in Sri Lanks are on the increase she has stressed.
Addressing a Media Seminar titled "Nutrition in first thousand days of life" held in Health Educatiin Bureau in Colombo yesterday(13) Dr.jayathissa has stressed that the main cause behind the majority of pregnant mothers avoid essential Iron Tablet Course is lack of awareness among them on the drug course.
