Board Of Investment Has Signed 46 Investment Venture Agreements In June

The Board Of Investment (BOI)has signed a total number of 46 investment agreements with investors during the month of June according the BOI.

This number is the highest number of investment agreements signed by BOI in a single month and the estimated investment value of these agreements is US Dollars 982 million  it has been reported.

Among the new investment ventures signed byBOI are production,construction,mixed development,hotel sector,small hydropower plants,solar power plants,apparel,, education and research BOI has stated.

Around 8000 new direct employment opportunities to be created under these ventures BOI has revealed.

US Assistant Secretary Of State Nisha Biswal Arrived In Sri Lanka For A State Visit

The US assistant secretary of state  for south and central asian affairs Nisha Desai Biswal has arrrived in Sri Lanka this evening for a state visit .

She was accompanied here by the US deputy assistant secretary of state for south asia manpreet singh anand.

During her visit she is due to hold bi lateral talks with  sri lanka's political leaders and government officials the US State Department has announced.


Cabinet Approved A 6% Bus Fare Hike

The cabinet has today (12) approved the 6% bus fare hike proposed by an intelectual committee according to Minister Of Transport Nimal Siripala De Silva.

The new bus fare hike will be implemented with effect from 01st of August this year the minister has stated.

The Bus owners trade unions have recently threatened to launch an island wide strike if the government not allow them to increase the bus fare.

During the discussions held with transport ministry officials the bus union leaders have rejected the 3.2% bus fare hike proposed by the ministry.

Former DIG Anura Senanayake Has Filed A Revision Petition By Seeking His Release

Image result for courtThe former senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) Anura Senanayake who was remanded over his direct involvement to the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen has filed A revision petition in high court through his counsel by seeking his release.

The revision petition was filed after the bail applications of former DIG Senanayake were dismissed by the Colombo Magistrate several times previously.

Through the revision petition the former DIG has named several officials including Attorney General and chief of the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) as respondents.

Former DIG Senanayake was detained by CID on 23rd of May.

One Was Killed And Four Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Vehicle Accident In Jaffna

Image result for accident graphicOne person killed and four others were injured and hospitalized as a result of the Van they were traveling in veered off from the road and crashed into a lamp post at Jaffna(In Northern Province) today(12).

After Van met with the accident all five passengers in the Van  have been admitted to Jaffna Hospital for treatment and one critically injured had succumbed to his injuries after hospital admission it has been reported.The deceased has been identified as a resident in Kokuvil Area.

The Jaffna Police are conducting further investigation on the accident.
