Police Have Nabbed Five Treasure Hunters In Ethimale

The ethimale police have detained five persons who were excavating a land in a reserved area at
ethimale to secure a treasure it has been reported.

Along with the suspects Police have taken in to custody several equipment and religious items from the site.

The suspects are due to be produced before siyambalanduwa Magistrate Court and ethimale police are conducting an investigations on tne incident.

US Assistant Secretary Of State Nisha Biswal Is Due To Arrive Sri Lanka This Week

The us assistant srcretary of state for south and central asian affairs nisha desai biswal is scheduled to arrived in island duting this week.The deputy assistant secretary to south asia manpreet singh anand will accompany her it has been reported.

During her visit  to sri lanka the us assistant secretary of state nisha biswal is due to hold discussions with sri lanka's political leaders and senior government officials on bi lateral economic corporation,reconciliation and democratic governance the us state department has announced.

Over 13,000 Armed Forces Deserters Have Been Legally Discharged From Service During Amnesty Period

During the Defence Ministry's extended  period of general amnesty over 13,000 deserters of the armed forces have been legally discharged from service according to the military spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera.

By last friday (08) around 11,847 attached to the  army,679 attached to the navy and 525 of the Air Force who have deserted forces have been legally discharged from the service after obtained clearence from their service officers the military spokesman has stated.

The general amnesty period will end on this wednesday and after that a legal action will be taken against those who fail to legally discharge from armed services during the period.
