Government To Provide Solutions For The Increasing Prices Of Essential Goods In The Market
The government has setup a special committee under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena to provide solutions for the unusual way of rising prices of some essential goods in the market the Minister Of Media Gayantha Karunathilake has stated today(06).
Although government did not impose value added tax(VAT) on essential goods the traders are reported as selling essential goods to the consumers for higher prices the Minister has stressed.To tackle this situation the special committee headed by Prime Minister and President has decided to form a task force by covering all superintendent of police areas in the island to carry out raids on errant traders and to educate the general public on tax systems he has further added.
The government has also decided to advertise the prices of essential goods twice a week through the print and electronic media he has stated.

Seventeen Indian Fishermen Were Detained By Local Coast Guard Officers In Sri Lankan Waters
The sri lankan coast guard officers with the assistance of Navy Officers have detained 17 Indian Fishermen with two Indian fishing trawlers they were in while poaching in Sri Lankan waters east of point pedro today(06).
The detained fishermen and trawlers are due to be handed over to the Jaffna fisheries inspector for future course of action it has been reported.

Around 80% Of The Schools And More Than 80%Of The Construction Sites In Colombo District Have Been Reported As Maintaining Dengue Mosquito Breeding Sites
According to a survey carried out recently by entomology officers around 80% of the schools and over 80% of the constriction sites in Colombo district are maintaining. Dengue mosquito breeding sites.
The president of the Health Services entomology officers union Mr.najith sumanasena has stated that the dengue mosquito density in districts of Colombo.Kandy.Gampaha and Kalutara has reached an epidemic level and currently it stands as 15-20 in the dengue mosquito index.
Accordingly if the dengue mosquito density in a district indicated as more than 5% on the dengue mosquito index it can described as an epidemic situation he has stressed.
