Death Toll Due To Floods And Landslides Has Risen To 104-99 Still Reported As Missing- DMC

The death toll   due to recent floods and landslides in sri lanka has risen to 104 and 99 persons still reported as missing according to the latest statistics of Disaster Management Center(DMC).

Another 31 have injured due to the floods and landslides which hit Sri Lanka last week as a result of heavy showers the DMC have stated.

Around 21,484 persons displaced due to the floods and landslides still staying at displaced camps although the flood waters drained it has been reported.

As a result of the adverse weather conditions occurred in the island 623 houses have been completely destroyed and another 4414 houses were partially destroyed the DMC has stressed.

Prices Of Cars Above 1000cc Engine Capacity And Three Wheelers To Be Increased Due To Tax Increase

The prices of cars above 1000cc engine capacity and three wheeler s will be increased as a result of increasing the minimum rate tax imposed on vehicles with effect from midnight yesterday(26)  according to Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association.

According to the new tax increase the taxes of the Toyota Prius vehicle will be increased from Rs. 3,300,000 to Rs.7,200,000,the taxes of Nissan X Trail vehicle will be increased from Rs.4,000,000 to Rs.8,000,000 and taxes of three wheeler will be increased up to Rs.400,000 the Association has stated.

The minimum tax imposed on a  vehicle with 1500cc engine capacity is Rs.3000 and vehicle with 1500-1600 cc engine capacity is one unit Rs.3500 and from there on Rs.4000 it has been revealed.

The prices of vans and lorries will not  increase as they are not subjected to the tax increase.
