Supreme Court Has Dismissed The Fundamental Rights Petition Filed Against Field Marshal Fonseka

Image result for supreme court sri lankaThe Supreme Court has today(24)  dismissed a fundamental rights petition filed against field marshal mp sarath fonseka by  seeking an order to revoke the government's decision to appoint him as a member of parliament.

The fundamental rights petition was filed by center for policy alternatives.

The governing united national party(UNP) has appointed the field marshal sarath  fonseka for the parliamentary seat left vacant after the death of former minister M.K.D.S Gunawardena and he was sworn in before parleiament speaker karu jayasuriya on 09th of february.

Around 147 Medical Personal Attached To Colombo National Hospital Who Lost Their Properties Due To Floods Treating Flood Victims

By showing their humanity to the world 147 medical personal attached to Colombo National Hospital whose properties including houses and vehicles damaged due to the floods occurred last week are being continuously participating  the medical camps conducted for flood victims in several flood hit areas  according to the deputy director of the hospital Dr.Samindi Samarakoon.

 Approximately 147 medical personal attached to Colombo national hospital including around 120 nurses ,several doctors and minor staffers mainly from kolonnawa and wellampitiya areas in Colombo District have been affected due to recent floods Dr.Samarakoon has stated.Some of them lost their houses and vehicles due to floods she has stressed.

However those medical personal without considering the status they and their families in continuously participating the  medical camps conducted by Ministry Of Health for flood victims it has been reported.

Around 15 medical teams comprising six medical personal each have been sent daily for the flood affected areas in 22 districts of the island  since last week Dr.Samarakoon has further added.

Colombo High Court Released Former Minister Abegunawaredena On Bail

The Colombo High Court has today(24) released the former minister MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena who is charged for non deceleration of his assets on bail.

The parliamentarian was released on a cash bail and four  personal bails of rs.10 million each when the case filed against him by bribery commission was taken into consideration at the court today.

The bribery commission has filed a case against MP Abeygunawardena on 07th of January 2016 on charge  of non declaring of his assets worth rs.41.2 million which the commission accused the MP as received as a bribe during 2004-2006 period.

Majority Of Alms Giving Center Organizers In Colombo Cancelled Thier Events During Wesak Day-Colombo Chief MOH

Although 488 Alms Giving Centers (Dansal) were registered in Colombo City to provide meals for the people visiting Colombo to see Wesak Festival decorations on Wesak Day which falls on 21st of May, only 152 Alms Giving Centers conducted as majority of Alms Giving Center Organizers cancelled their events to provide relief to flood victims according to Chief Medical Officer (MOH)in Colombo Dr.Ruwan Wijemuni.

Those who cancelled their Alms Giving Centers in the final moment were utilized the money collected for conducting those centers to provide relief for flood victims Dr.Wijemuni has stated.

Several Civil Organizations had last week appealed from the Alms Giving Center Organizers to cancel conducting such centers and utilize the money allocated for that to provide relief aid to flood victims.
