Thalassaemia Carriers Among Adults In The Society Are On The Increase
The Adult Carriers of Thalassaemia Disease in Sri Lanka are on the increase according to the Medical Officer in Charge at Ragama Teaching Hospital Dr.Nishani Silva.
These carriers of Thalassaemia are there in every part of the country and they do not shown any symptom of the blood related disease Thalassaemia Dr.Silva has stated."Therefore we strongly urged youth and adults to undergo a special blood test "HPLC" which can identify the disease, before marriage " she has stressed.
This special blood test is providing free of charge at the Colombo Medical Research Institute,Ridgway Children's Hospital,Badulla,Anuradhapura and Kandy Hospitals Dr,Silva has revealed during a seminar held on "Thalassaemia" at the Government Information Department Auditorium in Narahenpita yesterday (29).
If the disease transmitted to a child through a parent the child need to get blood transfusions throughout the life according to medical experts,
From Sri Lanka around 3000 Thalassaemia affected children have been reported annually it has been reported.

CID Arrested A Police Constable Attached To Laggala Police Station Regarding Firearms Robbery
The Criminal Investigations Department(CID) had arrested a Police Constable attached to Laggala (Central Province)Police Station regarding the firearms robbery occurred at the Police Station on 14th of April.
The detained Police Constable was in charge of the sub service of the Police Station at the time firearms robbery occurred it has been reported.
The stolen firearms were later recovered from near a water tank of a Temple.
Criminal Investigations Department is conducting an inquiry regarding the firearms robbery at Laggala Police Station.

A Trade Union Has Lodged A Complaint At Human Rights Commission Of Sri Lanka Against The Decision To Cancel All Holidays Of Sri Lanka Transport Board Workers
A Trade Union ,Ceylon Workers Unions Central Board has lodged a complaint at Human Rights Commission Of Sri Lanka yesterday (29) against the Sri Lanka Transport Board Management's decision to cancel all holidays of Drivers,Conductors and Technicians attached to Sri Lanka Transport Board( Langama) in view of providing transport facilities to participants of May Day Rallies.
The Management of the Sri Lanka Transport Board has decided to cancel all holidays for the above mentioned workers of Sri Lanka Transport Board from 28th of April to 03rd of May due to the large number of applications received by requesting Sri Lanka Transport Buses for May Day Rallies it has been reported.
However through the complaint made to the Human Rights Commission, the Ceylon Workers Unions Central Board has urged as the May Day is a day of workers the Sri Lanka Transport Board's decision to cancel holidays of it's workers is an act of preventing the workers from participating May Day Rallies and Management should have suspended this decision.
