Minister Of Health To Submit A Proposal To Cabinet On Serving Nutritious Meal At Functions held At Government Ministries/Institutions

Image result for fruits and juicesThe Minister of Health ,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has decided to submit a Proposal to the Cabinet on creating  a national policy to make compulsory that a nutritious meal including fruits and  fruit juices should be served to  the participants of  workshops,seminars and press briefings organize by all Ministries and Government Institutions in future.

The proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet soon according to Health Minister.The aim of submitting this kind of proposal to the Cabinet is to reduce the number of persons infected with non communicable diseases in sri lanka according to the Ministry Of Health.

It has been reported that 68% out of the total number of patients admitted to government hospitals annually are suffering from non communicable diseases like diabetes and heart diseases.ealth

Health Ministry has already issued a circular to the institutes attached to Ministry Of Health regarding serving Nutritious Meal during  the functions organize in the institutions.

Police Have Detained Two Persons With A Hand Bomb In Their Possession

The Police have detained two persons with a live hand bomb in their  possession at Kiralagahawela in Meetiyagoda(In Southern Province) Area.

The suspects were travelling in a Motor Bicycle when the Metiyagoda Police Station officers have stopped the vehicle and made the arrest.The hand bomb found in possession of two suspects has  identified as manufactured in a foreign country.

The two detained suspects are wanted persons for the Police due to their involvement in several other crimes it has been reported.

A Catholic Priest Was Killed And His Driver Got Injured Due To Their Van Veered Off The Road

A Catholic Priest was killed and his driver got injured and hospitalized when the Van they were travelling in veered off the road and toppled over at Thalladi in Mannar (In Northern Province)Area yesterday (18).

The accident has occurred when the van was travelling from Jaffna to Mannar and the 58 year Priest was succumbed to his injuries after getting  admitted to Mannar Hospital according to the Police.The driver of the van is currently receiving treatment at Mannar Hospital.

President Sirisena Has Pledged That He Will Not Allow To Impose Any Taxes That Seriously Affect The Masses

President Maithripala Sirisena has today(18) pledged that he will not allow to impose any taxes that will seriously affect the masses.

The President has also stated he will not care what the opinion of Economists in this regard and will not allow people to face hardships due to tax increases.

"If there are an economists who do not think on public well being they can leave their jobs and go" President Sirisena has stressed during a function held at Pulathisipura in Polonnaruwa.

The Ministry Of Finance has last week announced that the value added tax(VAT) imposed on imported goods and supplied services including health,telecommunication and wholesale and retail trade sectors will be increased from 11% to 15% with effect from 02nd of May .
