Government Has Declared This Friday(15) As A Special Government Holiday
The Government has declared this Friday(15) as a special Government Holiday a day after the traditional Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival.The Sinhala and Hindu New Year falls on this Thursday(14) and both that day and the day prior (13th of April-Wednesday) are government,bank and mercantile holidays here.
The special holiday on this Friday has been declared with the approval of both President and Prime Minister according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
A Group Of Residents Had Staged A Protest Campaign Against Sampur Power Plant
A group of residents in Trincomalee District yesterday(10) had staged a protest campaign at Navaladi Roundabout against building of proposed Sampur Coal Power Plant in view of protecting environment in the area.Around 80 residents were participated in the protest campaign according to sources.
