The Government has declared this Friday(15) as a special Government Holiday a day after the traditional Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival.The Sinhala and Hindu New Year falls on this Thursday(14) and both that day and the day prior (13th of April-Wednesday) are government,bank and mercantile holidays here.
The special holiday on this Friday has been declared with the approval of both President and Prime Minister according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
