Seven Persons Arrested With Three Kilo Grammes Of Heroin At Katunayake Air Port

Seven Persons including Three Sri Lankans and Four Maldivian Nationals have been arrested by the Police Narcotic Bureau today(27) while they attempted to smuggle Three Kilo Grammes Of Heroin to Sri Lanka.

These arrests were made at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Air Port.

Sudden Power Failures Occurred In Some Parts Of The Country And Power Fully Restored After Three Hours-Ceylon Electricity Board

Sudden Power Failures had occurred at  some areas  in Southern,Central,North Central and Uva Provinces this evening and after around three hours Ceylon Electricity Board has managed to restore the power supply fully to those areas according to the Electricity Board


Power Failures had occurred in Some areas in Southern Province,Kandy,Nuwara Eliya, Kurunagala,Polonnaruwa and Badulla Districts it has been reported.

The cause for these power failures not yet been revealed.


Police Have Detained Two Czech Nationals Who Attempted To Smuggle Few Insects And Plants Inherent To Sri Lanka From The Country

The Police Officers attached to Kaduwela Check Point have yesterday(26) night arrested two Czech Nationals who had attempted to smuggle few varieties of Insects and Plants inherent to Sri Lanka from the country on their way to the Air Port. 

The Police Officers have taken into custody some Butterfly Shells,A Chemical Substance and few varieties of plants inherent to Sri Lanka which were in possession of foreign nationals.The Van the two Czech nationals were in also detained by the Police.

The suspects are due to produce before Kaduwela Magistrate tomorrow(28) and Nawagamuwa Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Sri Lanka's Parliament To Convene A Constitutional Assembly On 05th Of April

Sri Lanka's Parliament is due to  convene a Constitutional Assembly for the first time on 05th Of April according to Minister Of Higher Education and Highways and leader of the house Lakshman Kiriella.

The Constitutional Assembly which comprising of all members of the Parliament is due to establish sub committees that will work on  the constitution making process and elect members for the sub committees.

The Constitutional Assembly has been appointed in the purpose of deliberating and the seeking views and advise of people on a new constitution for Sri Lanka and preparing a draft of a constitution bill for the consideration of Parliament.

To ensure transparency the proceedings of Constitutional Assembly will be opened for Media according to Minister Kiriella.
