A Pregnant Mother Was Critically Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Gun Shooting In Front Of Welikada Prison

A Pregnant Mother was critically injured and admitted to Colombo National Hospital  due to a Gun Shooting incident occurred  in front of Welikada Prison in Borella(In Colombo District) this evening.

The 23 year old injured Pregnant Mother who had visited a Prison Inmate at Welikada Prison got injured due to a gun shooting occurred around 3.50 p.m this evening which Police believe will be a work of  an Underworld Gang.

The Injured is currently receiving treatment at Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital according to Welikada Police.

Welikada Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Ministry Of Health Has Launched An Island Wide Survey On Doctors

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has yesterday(04) launched an Island Wide survey on Government Doctors attached to Government Hospitals and Health Institutions in the Country view of introducing a Electronic Data Management System for Medical Professionals in Sri Lanka.

This Survey will be carried out with the assistance  of Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) and Government Dental Surgeons Association.

The Survey which is first of it's kind launched in Sri Lanka will also reveals whereabouts of illegal Doctors practicing throughout the country the Ministry Of Health has said.

Eight Detained Indian Fishermen Have Been Remanded By Magistrate Court In Jaffna

The Eight Indian Fishermen who were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy recently while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters in Sea Coast off Jaffna-Kankasanthurai(In Northern Province) have been remanded by Mallakam Magistrate Court in Jaffna after being produced before the court yesterday(04).

Earlier Sri Lankan Navy had handed over the arrested Indian Fishermen along with two boats they were in to Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office in Kankasanthurai for future action.

These Fishermen arrived at Sri Lankan Waters on 01st of March for fishing it has been reported.

Fifteen Chief Police Inspectors Of Special Task Force Had Promoted As Assistant Superintendents Of Police

The Department Of Police Had promoted 15 Chief  Police Inspectors attached to Police Special Task Force as Assistant Superintendents Of Police(ASP).

Accordingly these Police Inspectors had promoted as Assistant Superintendents Of Police with effect from 31st of January 2014 the Police Department has announced.
