Sri Lankan Farmers are facing enormous difficulties these days due to the dropping of price of Paddy according to All Ceylon Farmers Convention.
The Farmers are in this situation due to the government's policy on not purchasing paddy directly from farmers properly the national organizer of farmers convention Namal Karunaratne has said.Government should give a solution for this problem with immediate effect he has further said.

TULF General Secretary Requested President Sirisena To Release Two Tamil Political Prisoners In Anuradhapura Prison
The General Secretary Of Tamil United Liberation Front(TULF) V.Ananda Sangaree has requested President Maithripala Sirisena to immediately release the two Political Prisoners in Anuradhapura(In North Central Province) Prison who had conducted a hunger strike recently.
The two Tamil Political prisoners who were in hunger strike recently have taken into Police Custody under the terrorism prevention act on 2009 and during last 7 years they were only produced before the court but authorities still not able to file a case against them the TULF General Secretary has revealed through a letter sent to the President.
Ananda Sangaree has requested President to either release the two political prisoners or send them for a short term rehabilitation programme.
Meanwhile the two tamil political prisoners who were in hunger strike at Anuradhapura Prison for 6 days have ended their hunger strike yesterday after prison authorities assured them steps will be taking to proceed with their legal cases.

Veteran Lyricist And Former Senior Journalist Dr.Ajantha Ranasinghe Has Passed Away
The popular veteran lyricist and former Senior Journalist Dr.Ajantha Ranasinghe has passed away while receiving treatment for an ailment at Colombo National Hospital yesterday(27) evening.
He was born in Kurunagala and has given up studies at early age to concentrate on writing poems and short stories for the Children's Page in "Silumina" and "Peramna "Papers.
He joined the "Dinamina" Newspaper as a staff reporter in 1965 and held different positions up to chief editor post in the paper.
Dr.Ranasinghe has wrote several popular songs for both veteran and upcoming singers as well as for Sinhala Films and received many awards during his career.
"May he attain supreme bliss of Nirvana"

Around 3276 Vacancies In Police Department At Present-Police Media Spokesman
There are around 3276 Vacancies in Police Department at present according to the Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) Ruwan Gunasekera.
Accordingly there are vacancies of 521 Male Police Superintendents,52 Female Police Superintendents.1861 Male Police Sergeants,567 Female Police Sergeants and 275 Police Sergeant Drivers ASP Gunasekera has said.
Applications have been called to fill the above vacancies from Police Officers at the Police Department who are having relevant qualifications he has further said.
