Minister Of Health Has Instructed The Health Ministry Officials To Import Short Supply Drugs To The Country Within One And Half Month Period

The Minister Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Health Ministry Officials to take steps to import drugs which are in short supply at Government Hospitals within one and half month period for benefit of the patients.

At the moment it takes Nine Months to import an essential drug to the country due to the current tender procedures.

The Health Minister has  also decided to submit a paper to the Cabinet seeking it's approval for importing more drugs to Government Hospitals to avoid a shortage until coming June.

Navy Divers Recovered The Bodies Of Two Girls Who Went Missing After They Drowned In Kelani River

The Navy Divers have recovered the bodies of two girls aged 13 years  who went missing after went to bathe in Kelani River on last Monday from rived bed .

Three Girls who went to Bathe in Kelani River on Monday have reported as missing after they have drowned in the river.However the residents living in near Kelani River have manged to rescue one girl shortly after she has drowned.But later she was pronounced  as dead.


The dead girls were  residents of Uragaha,Habarugala (In Western Province) Area.

Welikada Police Have Arrested Four Young Girls Worked At A Brothel House Functioned As A Massage Center

The Police have yesterday(16) arrested four young girls who have worked at a Brothel House which functioned in a guise of a Massage Center(SPA) at Rajagiriya-Buthgamuwa Road(In Colombo) during a raid carried out there.

The raid has been carried out at the Brothel by Welikada Police Officers headed by OIC Sudath Asamdala.

The Welikada Police have received so many complaints from the public on Brothel Houses that  illegally functioning  as Massage Centers and Massage Centers functioning without a proper licence within the Kotte Urban Council Area according to the Police.

Sri Lanka Has Managed To Reduce The Poverty To Below 7% Of The Population-A New Research Finding Of World Bank

Sri Lanka has made an encouraging progress on reducing the  poverty to below 7% of the local population according to a new research finding revealed by a World Bank Group today(16).

According to the new research finding the fall in poverty of the Sri Lankan Society is mainly due to the increased labor income as the local economy has shifted from less productive Agriculture towards the Industry and Service Sectors .

The research finding also shows although the poverty has decreased ,progress is uneven across  gender,ethnicity and location.A large number of poor still living within or close to urban areas and there are considerably higher rates of Poverty prevails in North and East ,The  Estate Sector and in Monaragala District the findings have revealed.

The Research Finding has also revealed that As around 40% of the local population still earn less than Rs.225 daily ,many people in the society are at risk of falling back to poverty .
