Commuters Have Faced Difficulties Due To The Strike Action Of Private Bus Operators On Southern Expressway
Due to the strike action launched by Private Bus Operators from Maharagama to Galle and Matara on the Southern Expressway this morning a large number of commuters travelling through the Southern Expressway have faced enormous difficulties according to the sources.
The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association has launched this strike as a protest against issuing of temporary licences to 10 new buses running through the expressway according to president of the Association Gamunu Wijeratne.
The Private Bus Operators are demanding the authorities to cancel the temporary licences.

Four Suspects Arrested And Remanded Over Alleged Financial Irregularities In CSN Channel Refused The Food Provided From Prison
The Four Suspects arrested and remanded last Saturday (30) over the alleged financial irregularities occurred at the Private T.V Channel Carlton Sports Network(CSN) ,including former President Mahinda Rajapakshe's second son Yoshitha Rjapaksha have refused the food provided them from the Prison it has been reported.
According to the Welikada Prison Authorities all the four suspects who are in a special security cell in Welikada Prison have requested the permission to get all three meals daily from their respective homes since yesterday(01).

Police Have Arrested A Female At Chavakachcheri With 70 Gold Biscuits In Her Possession
The Police have arrested a female from Chavakachcheri (In Northern Province) early this morning with 70 Gold Biscuits worth more than Rs.39 Million in her possession According to Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera.
The 50 year old suspected female has been arrested near the Sangani Railway Station at Chavakachcheri ,Jaffna according to an information received by SSP Jaffna the Police Media Spokesman has said.
The Police have found 70 Gold Biscuits weighing around 7 Kilo Grammes and each worth around Rs.562,000 in her possession,The value of the detained Gold is estimated as Rs.39,340,000.

CID Has Arrested The Former ASP Of Embilipitiya In Connection With A Death Of A Youth In Embilipitiya
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has today(02) arrested the former Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) of Embilipitiya Police D.W.C Dharmaratne over the recent death of a youth occurred at a Party House in Embilipitiya by falling down from an upstair of the house.
Earlier the Embilipitiya Magistrate has instructed the Police on 27th of January to arrest the suspects including former ASP of Embilipitiya Police and Headquarters Inspector (HQI) S.J Dias in connection with the death of a youth.The Magistrate has ordered the Police to arrest and produce ASP and HQI before Magistrate Court and others to identification parade.
Three Civilians and Four Policemen have been hospitalized with injuries due to a clash occurred at a party house in Embilipitia between police and the residents.
The villagers have alleged the clash had occurred after two policemen arrived at a house in Nawa Nagara Road in Embilipitiya on 04th of January by requesting liquor from house owners during a function.
