Sri Lanka Medical Association Has Requested The Ministry Of Health To Strengthen The Current Guidelines And Procedures Of The Human Organ Transplant Programmes In Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka Medical Association has requested the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine to strengthen the current guidelines and procedures of the country related to human organ transplant programmes including the implementation of National Open Donor Programme for deceased donor organ transplants to avoid trafficking of human organs if any for the purpose of transplantation in Sri Lanka.
It is important to strengthen the capacity of ethics committees in local hospitals to implement these guidelines and monitor these transplantation programmes Medical Association has said.

Two Suspects Along With 400,000 Liters Of Coconut Oil Unfit For Human Consumption Have Been Arrested At Hasalaka
The Public Health Inspectors have arrested two suspects along with 400,000 Liters of Coconut Oil which found unfit for human consumption at Hasalaka Area while transporting it from Colombo to Mahiyanganaya (In North Central Province)through lorries according to Government Public Health Inspectors Union .
The stock of detained coconut oil has been found stored in bags which contains toxic chemicals the Union has said.

Five Essential Drugs Are Out Of Stock In Provincial Hospitals
Around Five Essential Drugs prescribe for High Blood Pressure and Heart Ailments are out of stock in most of the provincial hospitals including Padukke (In Western Province)Hospital these days according to Hospital Sources.
The Drugs Losarten,Amildopine,Beclate Capsules ,Enalpril and Clopidogrel are out of stock in these hospitals and as a result doctors are prescribing their patients to purchase these drugs from private pharmacies the sources have said.
