Government Has Increased The Special Commodity Levy Imposed On Imported Mackerel Fish By Rs.50

The Cabinet has approved a proposal to increase a special commodity levy imposed on mackerel fish imported to Sri Lanka for production of canned fish by Rs.50 to Rs.100 per kilo gramme according to the government.

The Proposal to increase the special commodity levy on imported mackerel fish was submitted to the cabinet by Minister of Fisheries And Aquatic Resources Mahinda Amaraweera .Accordingly the concessionary levy on imported mackerel fish will only be granted to the local canned fish producers who produce them according to the given standards.

In 2013 the Special Commodity Levy imposed on imported mackerel fish had been increased by Rs.100 per Kilo Gramme to encourage the local canned fish producers.However the levy has been reduced to Rs.50 per Kilo Gramme in 2015 to provide concessions to the customer.

Annually Sri Lanka is  importing 20,000 Metric Tonnes Of Canned Fish for domestic use.

Batticloe Magistrate Has Further Remanded The Former Chief Minister Of Eastern Province Pillayan

remanded සඳහා à¶´ිà¶±්à¶­ුà¶» à¶´්‍රතිඵලThe Batticloe Magistrate has yesterday(27) further remanded the former Chief Minister Of Eastern Province Sivanasathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan who has been arrested and remanded over the murder of ex MP Josef Pararajasingham until 10th of February.

Pillayan has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department(CID) on 11th of October when he arrived there  to give a  statement regarding the murder of late politician josef pararajasingham.

Three Police OIC'S Have Been Transferred With Immediate Effect

Image result for transfersThree Officers In Charge(OIC) of Police Stations including the OIC of Kotadeniyawa(In Western Province) who was responsible for arresting two persons wrongfully regarding the  rape and murder of five year old seya sadewmini have been transferred with immediate effect according to the Department Of Police.

Accordingly the OIC of Kotadeniyawa Police has been transferred to Kegalle Police ,The OIC Of Welioya Police has been transferred to Kotadeniyawa Police and the Superintendent Of Polonnaruwa Police Division has been transferred as new OIC of Welioya Police.
