Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal To Relocate Manning Market From Colombo Fort To Paliyagoda

The Cabinet has yesterday(13) approved a proposal to relocate the Manning Market From Colombo Fort to Paliyagoda (In Western Province).Accordingly the Old Saint John Fish Market and Vegetable and Fruit Trade Center at Manning Market will be relocated  at a 25 Acre Land belongs to Urban Development Authority.

After relocating the Fish ,Vegetable and Fruit Markets the Manning Market Premises at Colombo Fort will be utilized for Public Transport Facilities the Government has said.

The estimated cost for the relocating process of Manning Market is Rs.4 billion.

Several Shops Have Been Destroyed Due To A Sudden Fire Broke Out At Matara

Image result for fireSeveral Shops at Kotuwegoda in Matara (In Southern Province) have been destroyed due to a sudden fire broke out at a Fishing Equipment Shop around 6.50 p.m this evening according to the Police.

Fire Brigade Teams are now engaged in dousing the Fire Police have said.

The Cause of the fire still not known.

Bribery Commission Officials Have Arrested A Provinical Officer In Nochchiyagama Area While Accepting A Bribe

The Bribery Commission Officials have yesterday(13) arrested a Provincial Officer representing Farmers Community in Nochchiyagama Area(In North Central Province) while accepting Rs.30,000 as a bribe.

The arrested officer attempted to take the bribe from a person to recommend a contractor to pay money regarding construction work of a reservoir in Nochchiyagama Area accirdng to the Bribery Commission.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Nochchiyagama Magistrate Court.

United Nations Food Programme To Grant US Dollars 20 Million For Sri Lanka

Image result for un food programmeThe United Nations Food Programme has decided to grant US Dollars 20 million to Sri Lanka for the period 2016-2017.

This grant will be given mainly to uplifting nutrition of Rural Population  and school children of Estate and Rural Sectors according to reports.

United Nations Food Programme has also decided to intervene into food safety issues in Sri Lanka during natural disasters.
