Around 500,000 Sri Lankans Had Undergone Blood Tests To Check HIV Status Last Year (2015)-Dr.Sisira Liyanage

Image result for hiv blood testsDuring Last Year (2015) around 500,000 Sri Lankans had  undergone Blood Tests to check their HIV/AIDS Status at Government and Private Hospitals according to the Director Of National STD/AIDS Control Programme Dr.Sisira Liayange.

Out of this number  300,000 had  undergone Blood Tests at National STD Clinics in Government Hospitals and the Clinic at National Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) /AIDS Programme in Colombo and 200,000 had undergone Blood Tests  at Private Hospitals Dr.Liyanage has said.

Addressing a Media Seminar On "HIV/AIDS And Migrant Workers" at Sri Lanka Press Institute in Narahenpita(In Colombo) this morning Dr.Liyanage has said more and more people are coming for Blood Tests now to check their HIV/AIDS Status at both Government and Private Hospitals after the National STD/AIDS Campaign has requested those who are having risky sexual behaviors to check their HIV Status.

This is a good sign and it helps to identify more and more HIV /AIDS Positives in early stages of the disease and referring them for treatment he has stressed.

A Group Of 80 Sri Lankan House Maids Have Returned To The Country From Kuwait

A group of around 80 Sri Lankan Females who had gone to Kuwait as House Maids have returned to the Country this morning according to Sri Lanka  Foreign Employment Bureau. 

The Group of  Sri Lankan Maids have arrived at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port this morning due to the reasons including expiration of their visas and Who got abused by their employers the Bureau has said.

According to the Foreign Employment Bureau another group of Sri Lankan House Maids are due to arrive Sri Lanka next week.

MP Hirunika Premachandre And Nine Of Her Security Personal Have Appeared Before The Court Regarding The Abduction Case

Colombo District MP Hirunika Premachandre and Nine of her Security Personal have appeared before Colombo Additional Magistrate today (12) regarding the case of abduction of a Youth in Dematagoda(In Colombo).

During the court proceedings the Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohommad Nihay has ordered the Police to send CCTV Scenes regarding the abduction to Moratuwa University for further  investigations.

The additional magistrate has refused to release the Defender Vehicle belonging to MP Premachandre which said to have been used for the abduction.

The case has been postponed until 26th Of January.

No Population Growth In Colombo During Recent Years-The Population Of Stray Dogs And Cows Have Been Increased-Minister Ranawake

The Minister Of Mega Police and Western Provincial Development Patali Champika Ranwake has today(12) said during the recent years the Population in Colombo has not been increased ,however the number of Stray Dogs and Cows reside in Streets of Colombo has been increased significantly.

There are around 16,000 Stray Dogs and 2000 Cows reside in Streets Of Colombo at present the Minister Ranawake has said.Although cows are there ,there's not a single  paddy field is seen in Colombo he has stressed.

Around 4000 Stray Dogs are living  near the Garbage Dump Site in Meethotamulle . Minister Ranwaka has stressed.
