Sri Lankan Navy Has Arrested Five Persons When They Attempted To Smuggle A Stock Of Sea Cucumber To The Country

Sri Lankan Navy have today(10) arrested Five Persons at Kappaladi in Kalpitiya(In North Western  Province) when they attempted to smuggle a stock of Sea Cucumber weighing 950 Kilo Grammes to the country from India via sea.

The Navy has also arrested the small fishing craft the suspects have been used to transport the stock of sea cucumber to the country.

The detained stock of Cucumber has been estimated as worth around Rs.10 million according to the Navy.

The Navy have handed over the Suspects along with the stock of cucumber to the Officials at Puttalam to take a legal action.

A Person With 1.1 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin In His Possession Has Been Arrested In Maligawatte

The Anti Vice Squad of the Maligawatta(In Colombo) Police have today(10) arrested a Person with 1.1 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin worth over Rs.10 million in his possession at Maligawatte .

The suspect is due to be produced before Maligakanda Magistrate Court tomorrow(11).

A Sudden Fire Erupted In Brownsik Estate At Maskeliya Destroyed Ten Houses

Around 10 houses situated  in  Brownsik Estate at Maskeliya (In Up Country) have been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted this noon according to the sources.

The Maskeliya Police and the residents of the area have managed to doused the fire which has erupted around 12 noon today(09).

No casualties have been reported according to Police.
