Foreigners Will Be Not Given Free Ownership Of Sri Lankan Lands Through The Budget-Finance Minister
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has said today (02) in Parliament that foreigners will be not given free ownership of Sri Lankan land through the 2016-Budget as predicted by some opposition members but they will be given permission to obtain local lands for 99 year lease.
The same criteria applied for China Funded Colombo Port City Project as well according to the Finance Minister.
The Minister has said that none of the current regulations on transferring the land ownership to foreigners have been removed through the Budget and only the Tax imposed on leasing of land to foreigners has been removed.

Second Reading of the 2016-Budget Has Been Passed Today (02)With Majority Of 107 Votes
The Second Reading of the 2016-Annual Budget has been passed at Parliament today(02) with a majority of 107 Votes .A total number of 159 MP's have been voted in favor of the Budget while 52 voted against it.
The Party represent the Opposition Leader of the House Sambandhan, Tamil National Alliance(TNA) ,the party leaders who have earlier supported former President Mahinda Rajapakshe ,leader of the Ceylon Workers Congress(CWC) Arumugam Thondaman,leader of the Ealam Peoples Democratic Party(EPDP) Douglas Devananda and United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Lakashman Seneviratne have voted in favor of the Budget Proposals.
Leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) and several UPFA MP's representing joint opposition supporting former President Mahinda Rajapakshe have voted against the Budget.
Thirteen MP'S Including former President Mahinda Rajapakshe and Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero were absent during the voting.
The debate of the second reading of 2016-Budget has conducted for nine days before the voting held today and the Committee Stage or the third reading of the Budget is due to be commenced tomorrow(03).
The Committee Stage debate is scheduled to be held for 15 days and the voting of the third reading is due to be taken place on 19th of December.

Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Pillayan Has Been Further Remanded
Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanasathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan has been remanded today (02) further until 16th of December by the Batticloe Magistrate over the alleged murder of former MP Joseph Pararajasinghem .
Pillayan Was further remanded after he was produced before Batticloe Magistrate N.M Abdullah today(02).
He was arrested on 11th of October by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after been recorded a statement from him over the murder of former MP Joseph Pararajasinghem.
