Consumer Affairs Authority Has Announced Maximum Retail Prices For Six Essential Food Items To Be Adopted From This Friday

The Consumer Affairs Authority Of Sri Lanka has today(18) announced maximum retail prices for Six Essential Food Items in the local market to be adopted with effect from this Friday(20).

Accordingly Mysore Dhal should be sold Rs.190 per Killo Gramme,Dried Chilies -Rs.355 Per Kilo Gramme,Big Anions-Rs.155 per Kilo Gramme,Potatoes -Rs.145 Per Kilo Gramme ,Packeted Wheat Flour -Rs.95 per Kilo Gramme and Skinless Chicken-Rs.480 Per Kilo Gramme.

The new price revision of these essential food items are lower than previous prices according to Consumer Affairs Authority.

The new maximum prices have been introduced for the said essential items to safeguard the consumers from sudden price hikes adopted by errant traders during the forthcoming festive season  the Minister Of Industries And Commerce Rishard Baduideen has said.

However the prices of five gazetted Food items namely Unpacketed White Sugar,Packeted White Sugar,Canned Fish 425 Grammes Net Weight ,Canned Fish 155 Grammes Net Weight and Unpacketed Wheat Flour have been not been changed according to Minister.

The Prices of Whole Chicken With Skin,Imported Packeted Dried Sprats and Imported Unpacketed Dried Sprats have been increased by Rs.20.Rs.5 and Rs 25 per Kilo he has further said.

Professor Ravindra Fernando Has Been Appointed As New Chairman Of National Dangerous Drug Control

The Ministry Of Law And Order has today (18) appointed One of the leading Forensic Pathologists in Sri Lanka, Toxicologist Physician Professor Ravindra Fernando  as the New Chairman of National Dangerous Drug Control Board of Sri Lanka.

Professor Fernando will succeed   Dr.Nilanga Samarasinghe as the Chairman Of Dangerous Drug Control Board.He is also an author and Former Director Of National Poison Information Center.




Cabinet Has Approved The Proposals On Abolishing Executive Presidency And Introducing Electoral Reforms

Image result for approvedThe Cabinet has today(18) approved the proposals submitted by President Maithripla Sirisena to abolish the Executive Presidency and Establishing New Electoral Reforms.

A Committee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe is due to be appointed to draft an amendment on the process of implementing these proposals.President has instructed the Prime Minister to appoint the committee in this regard it has been reported.

Excise Department Has Raided And Sealed Illegally Functioned Night Club At Kelaniya

Image result for excise departmentThe Special Crimes Unit Of Excise Department has  raided and sealed an Illegally Functioned Night Club at Kelaniya Area (In Western Province) yesterday night and taken in to custody a stock of illegall Liquor stored at there.

This raid was carriedout according to the complaints received from residents in Kelaniya Area and the Night Club was sealed due to storing and selling of liquor illegally by violating conditions of the given Licence .

Sri Lanka Customs Have Been Detained A Container With Illegally Imported 10,770,000 Counterfeit Cigarrete Sticks At Grandpass

The Sri Lanka Customs have this morning detained a Container containing illegally imported 10,770,000 Counterfeit Cigarrete Sticks worth around Rs.355 Million at Grayline 11 Yard Area in Grandpass.The Container was earlier declared as containing Chest Freezers imported from Dubai by Vessal according to Customs Officers.

The Officers belonging to Customs Post Clearence And Audit Division have been seized and detained the said container with Counterfeit Cigarrete Sticks and the evaded payment for this Stock of Cigarrete Sticks Around Rs.300 Million according to Customs Department.

The importer of this Container is from Nugegoda(In Colombo) Area it has been revealed.
