Several Areas In Matara District(In Southern Province) Had Submerged Following The Overflowing Of River Nilwala

Several Areas in Matara District (In Southern Province) had submerged due to the overflowing of River Nilwala caused by heavy showers currently prevails in the District.

Panadugama,Maragoda,Porathota and Agalakada Areas in the Matara District have been  reported as flooded at present according to sources.

Due to the submergence of   Roads in these flooded areas transport too has  got disrupted sources have added.

Prime Minister Wikramasinghe Met Singaporean Prime Minister And Conducted Bi Lateral Talks

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe who arrived  Singapore for a state visit had met Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Istana yesterday (16),and held talks to promote bi lateral corporation between the two countries .

During his two day state visit to Singapore ,Prime Minister Wikramasinghe had met several key Singaporean  Ministers including Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister For Economic And Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam .

Major General Ubaya Medawela Has Been Appointed As New Military Adviser To Sri Lanka's Mission To The United Nations - New York

Major General Ubaya Medawela who is the Commander In Security Force Headquarters (West) has been appointed as  New Military Adviser to  Sri Lanka's Mission to the United Nations in  New York.

Major General Medawela has served as the commander in Security Force Headquarters(West) for more than one and half years and had also served as the  Military Spokesman .

A Farewell Ceremony was held today to honor Major General Medawela at Security Force Headquarters(West) Grounds according to Ministry Of Defense.

Sri Lankan Government To Issue Diplomatic Passports Only For Qualified People

Sri Lankan Government has decided to issue Diplomatic Passports in future only for those who have  qualified to receive them according to Cabinet Spokesman MP Gayantha Karunathilake.

During the last few years several unqualified people have received Diplomatic Passports and as a result  they had been  misused them MP Karunathilake has said.

To avoid  this kind of situation the government will only issuing Diplomatic Passports for eligible persons only in future he has stressed.
