Mental Disorders Amongst Sri Lankan Population Are On The Increase -Director Of National Institute For Mental Health

The mental disorders  amongst Sri Lankan Population are on the increase  due to the socio ,economic and family problems according to Director of National Institute Of  Mental Health Consultant Psychiatrist Dr.Kapila Wikramanayaka.

Around 20% to 25% of Sri Lankan Population is identified as suffering from some kind of mental disorder  and majority of them are minor mental disorders Dr.Wikramanayaka has said."Only 1% suffering from severe mental disorders and there's a  section which is suffering  from mental disorders related to stress conditions he has said.

Addressing a Media Workshop held at National Institute Of Mental Health in Angoda(In Colombo District) this morning Dr.Wikramanayaka has stated around 8000 persons with mental disorders are  being  admitted to the Institute annually and around 1000 of them are receiving treatment for a long period annually .

Addressing the Media Workshop consultant psychiatrist Dr.Jayan Mendis has appealed to  the public not to address persons suffering from mental disorders as mental patients as it's clearly a discrimination against  them."Identify them as normal human beings "he has said.

President Sirisena Will Bring Back Peace And Prosperity To Sri Lanka-Chief Minister Of Northern Province.

The Chief Minister Of Northern Province C.V Vigneshweran has said today(05) he is confident and hope President Maithripala Sirisene will bring back peace and prosperity to Sri Lanka.

"Some People in the country thinks the largest community should have stay  like a tree and the minorities should be  the branches of that tree.However the minority in Northern Province will not thinking like that" the Chief Minister has said at a function held in Kilinochchi Area(In Northern Province) today.

Eleven Unskilled Sri Lankans Who Had Gone To Kuwait From Tourist Visas Have Been Sent Back

Around 11 Sri Lankans who had gone  for jobs in Kuwait through  tourist visas have been sent back to Sri Lanka by the Kuwaiti Air Port Authorities.

These persons were left for Kuwait on 01st of October and there were children under five years amongs t them according to sources.The adults amongst them do not have any training to work in middle eastern countries it has been revealed.

The returnees are now staying at the "Sahana Piyasa" of Katunayaka Air Port premises and an inquiry is currently underway regarding   them.

Sri Lanka Will Stop Importing Food Items That Can Be Cultivated Here-President Sirisena

He also said those lands not used for cultivation so far will be taken over to the government.

The former president's personal physician who is also a healer and used herbs for treatment was  known as only treating for VIP' besides treating former president during the previous regime.
