Former MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena Was Released On Bail

Former MP Sajin Vaas
The imprisoned former MP of United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) Sajin Vaas Gunawardena who is in remand for allegedly misusing state owned vehicles belonging to presidential secretariat  during previous government  has granted bail by Colombo High Court  yesterday(23).

 The bail application submitted yesterday by Sajin Vaas was accepted by Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilake and the imprisoned former MP was released on two personal bails of Rs.20 million each and a cash bail of Rs.1 Million.

Earlier Former MP Gunawardene who was arrested and remanded on 11th of May has been remanded until 06th of October by the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court regarding the case filed 





against him.

Special Commodity Levy Imposed On Imported Edible Oil Has Been Increased From Today

edible oil க்கான பட à®®ுடிவுThe special commodity levy imposed on imported edible oil has been increased by Rs.20 per Kilo Gramme with effect from today(23) according to the Ministry Of Finance.

Providing relief to local Coconut Industry has  behind this decision the Ministry has said.With the new increase  the special commodity levy imposed on Crude Edible Oil increased to Rs.110 from Rs.90 per Kilo Gramme and levy imposed on Refined Oil increased to  Rs.130 from Rs.110 per Kilo Gramme.

Dementia Is On The Increase Amongs t Sri Lankan Women Over 60 Years Of Age-Dr.Kapila Ranasinghe

"Dementia " a disease caused due to destroying  neuro cells in the brain is  on the increase among st Sri Lankan Elderly Women over the age of 60 years according to the Consultant Psychiatrist attach to National Mental Institute Dr.Kapila Ranasinghe.

Although both males and females over the age of 60 years are usually prone to Dementia ,the disease is high among st Sri Lankan Women belonging to the above age group due to hormone problems Dr.Ranasinghe has said.

Addressing a Media Seminar held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo today(23) Dt.Kapila Ranasinghe has stressed that around 5 % to 6% out of the total Sri Lankan Population estimated as suffering from Dementia according to a latest survey.

The main symptoms of Dementia Disease are Loss of the Memory(Forgetting the daily activities regularly ,if someone lost his/her belongings they suspect someone might have stolen those,),Changes in daily routine ,Behavioral Changes including screaming,sleeping disorder known as Insomnia ,Living in isolation ,Restlessness ,Believing in Myths ,Dr.Ranasinghe has revealed.

Dementia is seen among st Sri Lankan males and females below 60 years of age as well he has stressed. "If someone is having the symptoms given above he/she should be directed to medical treatment with immediate effect to avoid getting  patient become paralyzed or totally out of
control " Dr.Ranasinghe said.

Officers Of Presidential Commission Of Inquiry Have Visited Former President To Record A Statement

The Presidential Commission Of Inquiry has recorded a statement from fromer president Mahinda Rajapaksha this morning regarding Rs.200 Million loss reported from a State Media Institution due to broadcast advertisements of former president rjapaksha without payments and not broadcasting President Maithripala Sirisena's paid advertisements during the Presidential Election period .

Although the former president was informed to be present at Presidential Commission Of Inquiry today to record the statement ,the commission officers have visited former president at his residance in Mirihana (In Colombo) to get  the statement.

The Commision has investigating a case received regarding the Rs.200 Million Loss  incurred by a state media institution due to  broadcasting former president's non paid advertisments while rejecting to broadcast president sisrisena's paid advertisements during the election.
