THIS FAMOUS PAINTING WAS DONE BY YESTERYEAR SRI LANKAN ARTIST JUSTIN DERANIYAGALE WHO WAS ONE OF THE SEVEN SRI LANKAN ARTISTS  FORMED THE FAMOUS  43 GROUP . SRI LANKA'S NAME ENTERED TO THE WORLD'S ARTISTS MAP DUE TO THE 43 GROUP. IT WAS WELL KNOWN FACT THE SUBJECT MATTER FOR JUSTIN DERANIYAGALA'S PAINTINGS HAS ALWAYS BEEN HUMAN FIGURE USUALLY A FEMALE .

HIS PAINTINGS HAVE  ATTRACTED  NOT ONLY AMONGST ART LOVERS IN SRI LANKA BUT IN WESTERN EUROPE AS WELL.

New Outer Circular Highway From Kaduwela To Kadawatha Was Opened Today

As the newly built Outer Circular Highway from Kaduwela to Kadawatha(In Colombo District) had inaugurated today(17) government has announced the new toll fees that light vehicles should pay when  using the extended highway to Galle and Matara(In Southern Province).

According to new toll fees announced for Light Vehicles -Kaduwela To Kadawatha - Rs.100 , Kadawatha To Galle  -Rs.500 and 
Kadawatha To Matara-Rs.650.
                                                                                                   

Through the newly opened extension the motorists will be able to reach Matara from Colombo within one and half hours .


The 8.9 Kilo Meter Long second phase of the Outer Circular Highway from Kaduwela To Kadawatha which was built at the the cost of Rs.44 billion was inaugurated  today under the patronage of Minister Of University Education And Highways Lakshman Kiriella.

The new Outer Circular Highway is connected to the Katunayake -Colombo Expressway,Southern Expressway,Colombo Northern Expressway and Colombo-Kandy Expressway.

Consumer Affairs Authority Has Filed Court Cases Against Two Businessman For Selling Coconut Oil Mixed With Vegetable Oil

The Consumer Affairs Authority has filed court cases against two businessmen in Colombo Fort for selling Coconut Oil mixed with Vegetable Oil to the consumers.

The two businessmen have accepted the allegations  leveled against them at the court and Paid Rs.5000 fine Consumer Affairs Authority has said.

The laboratory  tests done regarding the coconut oil samples collected from Colombo fort have proved that coconut oil sold to the consumers mixed with vegetable oil according to Authority.


 

Citizens Organizations Collective Had Requested President To Appoint A Special Presidential Commission To Investigate On Wrong Decisions Made By Attorney General

The Citizens Organizations Collective had requested the President Maithripala Sirisene to appoint a speical presidential commission to investiagte  on  the wrong decisions made by Attorney General and Attorney General's Department regarding dismissing  all charges against  LTTE Leader KP allias Kumaran Padmanadan and giving legal concessions to the suspects of much talked about Avent Guarde floating armoury case.

The Co Convener of the Citizens Organizations Collective Saman Ratnapriya has said today (17) although neighbouring India wants LTTE Leader KP as the key suspect of Rajiv Gandhi Murder Case ,Sri Lanka's Attorney General has recently dismissed all the alleagtions leveled against KP citing there's no evidance to prove the charges.However in reality there are enough evidance to prove charges leveled against KP and by dismissing the charges against him Attorney General has acted as a supporter of former Rajapakshe Regime .

Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo today(17) Ratnapriya has said regarding Avant Guarde floating armoury case too Attorney General and Attorney General's Department had acted in strange manner and they have given legal concessions to the suspects of that case including the former defense secretary and some directors of Avent Guarde Company 

Due to these biased decisions of Attorney General and the Department the public trust put on the local judiciary is fading away Ratnapriya has said.

National Child Protection Authority To Submit Seven Proposals To Government On Child Rape Cases.

National Child Protection Authority has decided to submit seven proposals to the government regarding actions to be taken regarding  child rape cases including  extending the prison sentence of child rapists from 10 years to 20 years according to the president of  National Child Protection Authority Dr.Natasha Balendra.

Addressing a press briefing held In Colombo yesterday(16) Dr.Balendra has said that the child protection authority has never entertained the imposing of capital punishment against child rapists as studies  carried out by western countries have  clearly  shown that by  imposing capital punishment the number of child rape cases will not be decreased .

Among st the seven proposals that child protection authority is  planning to submit to the government are establishing a high court each in every province and appointing a high court   commissioner to hear child rape cases and giving a special training for those officers who are working with children.
