Court Of Appeal Extended The Stay Order Against Baanning Of Full Face Helmets

The Court Of Appeal has today(18) extended the stay order against the banning of wearing full face helmets by the Motorcyclists until 02nd of July.

The Police have earlier decided to implement a ban of using full face helmets due to the increased number of crimes occurred in the country have done by using those helmets.


The petition filed at Courts Of Appeal against the banning of full face helmets argued that if the full face helmet ban will be implemented it would greatly inconvenience the Motor Cyclists throughout the island.

A Man Went Missing While Bathing At Galle Face Beach

A 30 year old man resided in Colpetty has gone missing this morning while bathing with a group at Galle Face Beach according to the Police.Navy and Army are conducting the search operations to find the man who has gone  missing the Police have said.

Two Police Officers Were Killed And Three Others Injured Due To Van-Tipper Truck Collision

Two Persons were killed and three injured when a Van collided with a Tipper Truck at Ududumbara on Kandy-Mahiynagana Main Road early this morning.

The Two who were killed on the accident were Police Officers  a Sub Inspector and a Police Constable attached to the Galaha Police Station who were returning in the van from a funeral house at Ududumbara Area.Three Injured Police Officers
who  were also in the Van have admitted to the Kandy General Hospital.

The Driver of the Tipper Truck was arrested regarding the accident.

Government Assured It Will Not Allow Any LTTE Commemorative Event In Northern Province

The Government has today (17) announced that it will not allow any group to hold LTTE Commemorative Events in Northern Province.

Government's announcement came after the Mulathivu Magistrate Court has issued a stay order yesterday banning holding of  any LTTE Commemorative Event in Mulathivu District(In Northern Province) for 14 day period with effective from tomorrow.
