Former Minister MP Basil Rajapakshe And Two Others Attached To His Former Ministry Have Been Arrested-Police

Former Minister of Economic Development MP Basil Rajapakshe along with the former secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development Dr.Nihal Jayathilake and the Director General of Divi Naguma Programme launched by the Ministry R.A.K Ranawake have been arrested by the Police Crimes Investigations Division this evening.

They were arrested over an allegations leveled against them regarding massive Financial Corrupt Deals occurred under  Divi Naguma Programme.Earlier today the Police Crimes Investigations Division has recorded a statement from MP Basil Rajapakshe over the allegations.

Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe Has Given A Statement Regarding Fraud Allegations Against Him

The former Minister of Economic Development and the brother of the former President Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Basil Rajapakshe who returned to the island from USA yesterday had given a statement today(22) to the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division  regarding a large scale fraud  alleagtions levelled against him .

He was questioned by the Police Crimes Investigations Division over a illeagal financial deal occured at the "Divi Naguma" Programme which comes under his Minsitry then it has been reported,The former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe has returned to the island from USA to giving  some required details  regarding fraud allegations levelled against him.

Sri Lanka Becomes The First Country In South Asia That Providing Free Internet WIFI Facility To The Public -ICTA

Sri Lanka has become the first country in South Asian Region that created Free Internet WIFI Zones for the public according to the Information and Comunication Technology Agency Of Sri Lanka(ICTA).Under the 100 day welfare programme of the present government one thousand Free Internet WIFI Zones are planned to be set up around the country ICTA has said.

Up to now   WIFI Zones which public can accress to the internet free of charge have been setup in seveneteen districts throughout the island and the latest adition to that is the Natural Zoo innaugurated in Pinnawala last week.

Government is aiming to setting up free WIFI Internet Zones in every Divisional Secretariet in near future ICTA has further said.

A Risk Of Spreading Malaria In Sri Lanka Through Foreigners-Anti Malaria Campaign

There's a great risk of spreading Malaria in Sri Lanka through the foreigners who are returning to the country from countries like India the Director of the Anti Malaria Campaign Dr.Risintha Premaratne has said today(21).During 2013-2014 period 144 local and foreign Malaria Patients were identified on their arrival at the Katunayake International Air Port and the  Sea Ports in Northern Province  he has stressed.Out of these patients 95 were identified in 2013 and 49 were identified in 2014.

At present the spreading rate of Malaria in Sri Lanka is zero and to keep that rate continuously there's a need to prevent entering malaria to the country from other countries Anti Malaria Campaign Director has stressed.

Dr.Premaratne has made these remarks during  the press briefing held today at the Government Information Department in Narahenpita.

Opposition Parties Have Decided To Bring A No Confidence Motion Against The Finanace Minister

The former Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said today(21) that the opposition has decided to bring a no confidence motion against the finance minister Ravi Karunanayake .

Meanwhile Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has  said today that he will accept the no confidence motion challenge   and expecting the opposition  to table the no confidence motion  as soon as possible. 

Tense Situation Has Postponed The Parliamentary Debate On 19th Amendment

Sri Lankan Parliament 
Due to the tense situation occurred at the Parliament during last two days regarding the bribery allegations leveled against the former President ,the 19th Amendment Draft Bill which was scheduled to be taken in to debate today(21) has been postponed until next Monday(27) the leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella has announced.The Draft Bill is scheduled to be presented to the Parliament on next Monday he has further added.

Meanwhile after 113 opposition MP's have signed and handed over a letter to the President Maithrpala Sirisena to protest the bribery commission's decision to summon former president Rajapakshe at the commission ,President Sirisena has arrived to the Parliament today and discussed the matter with party leaders it has been revealed.

The opposition leader MP Nimal Siripala De Silva has urged the government to  remove director general of the Bribery Commission who caused the tense situation at parliament.
