Government And Opposition Supporters Clashed At Kiribathgoda

Kiribathgoda Area bacame a small battlefield this morning as the Government Supporters are clashed with a group of United National Party(UNP)and Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) supporters who were distributed leaflets in the area to support opposition Candidate General Sarath Fonseka.Riot Police rushed to the scene as the Government Supporters equipped with poles and stones are hitting the opposition Supporters.

Riot Police used Tear Gas to disperse the attackers.Three got injured due to the incident and admitted to the North Colombo Teaching Hospital according to the Police.

Meanwhile addressing a Press Briefing in Colombo JVP MP Vijitha Herath said that the Thugs belongs to the Mad Dog in the area attacked peaceful Opposition Supporters.

Minister P.Chandresekeran Passed Away

The Leader of the Up Country Peoples Front(UPF) and the Minister of Community Development and Social Inequity P.Chandresekeran was passed away this Morning at a Private Hospital after brief illness.

He recently express his solidarity to President Mahinda Rajapaksha recently.UPF Member P.Arusal is expected to fill the Vacancy of Minister Chandresekeran.

Government Reduced Gas Price

The Price of the Government Owned Laugfs Gas has been reduced by Rs.60 with effect from Midnight Tomorrow(31).According to the Government Sources the New Price of the Laugfs Gas is Rs.1421.However the Price of the Shell Gas remains as Rs.1550 per cylinder.

Petrol Prices Reduced From Midnight Tonight

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation(CPC)and Lanka Indian Oil Company(IOC)reduced the Prices of Two Varieties of Petrol with effect from Midnight today.According to the new Price Revision the 90 Octane Petrol will be selling for Rs.115 and 95 Octane Petrol is Rs.133.

However the Prices of Diesel will remained unchanged.

Dambara Amila Thero Remanded Till 08th Of January

Venerable Dambara Amila Thero who was arrested by the CID on Sunday was remanded till 08th of January by the Court today.He was arrested on charges of allegedly taking Money from people to send Manpower abroad which the Opposition Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna accused the arresting of Thero as a Government act of taking revenge from him.

Ven.Dambara Amila Thero was announced few days ago that the National Bhikku Front under the leadership of him will support the Common Presidential Candidate General Sarath Fonseka in the forthcoming Presidential Elections.
