Elections Commissioner Appeals To Suspend All Transfers And Appointments Till Election Results Out

Sri Lanka's Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka today announced that all the Transfers,Promotions and Appointments in Government Institutions should be suspended till the Results of the Presidential Elections are announced.

Education Minister Handed Over The Deposit On Behalf Of The President

The National Organizer of the Governing Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) and Education Minister Susil Prema Jayantha today handed over the Deposit to the Elections Department on behalf of the President Mahinda Rajapaksha for his Candidacy in the forthcoming Presidential Elections.Last week alone Six Presidential Candidates handed over their Deposits to the Department .

The Presidential Elections is scheduled to be held in 26th of January 2010.

The National Organizer Of The Main Opposition UNP ,SB Dissanayaka Joined The Government

The National Organizer of the Main Opposition the United National Party(UNP) and the Opposition Leader of the Central Provincial Council S.B Dissanayaka today announced that he will quit all the posts and positions of the Party immediately and join the Governing Sri Lanka Freedom Party where once he was in to Support President Mahinda Rajapaksha in the Forthcoming Presidential Elections.

Addressing a Press Briefing held in Colombo this morning Mr.Dissanayaka who crossover to the Opposition UNP Few years back when the former President Chandrika Bandaranayaka Kumarathnge was in Power criticizing the UNP Leader Ranil Wickramasinha for ruining the Party and said the UNP Lost many elections in the Past due to him.He stressed that he has resigns from the UNP and joining the Government along with a group of UNP Supporters over the Party's support towards the Common Presidential Candidate Retired General Sarath Fonseka.

He also said that many Party Members  of the UNP Left due to the Opposition Leader.SB himself who joined with UNP few years back by spliting the SLFP recently said he will never join SLFP again and not leave the UNP in any cicumstances.He is also critical on  Former President Chandrika.

Sri Lankan Elections Commissioner To Invite Four Foreign Elections Observation Teams For Polls

Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka has informed the Joint Opposition Alliance that Four Foreign Elections Observation Teams will invited to Observe the Forthcoming Sri Lankan Presidential Elections.The General Secretary of the Main Opposition United National Party(UNP) Tissa Attanayaka today said that the Elections Commissioner has informed them that the Election Observation Teams from United Nations,European Union and Asian Elections Commission will be invited to Observe the Polls.Mr.Attanayaka made these remarks at a Press Briefing held in Colombo today.

Sri Lankan Presidential Elections is scheduled to be held in 26th of January 2010 and the hand over of Nominations for the Election will take place  on 17th of December 2009.

Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse Protesting Assistant Teachers

Police fired Tear Gas this evening to disperse a large Group of Protesters belongs to the Assistant Trainee Teachers Union as they tried to March towards the President's Official Residence the Temple Trees.

The Assistant Teachers who are categorized as Teachers without Training are only recieved a sum of Rs.3000 as their Salary according to the Protesters.If the Government is not taking steps to Permenant their Posts around 100,000 Members of their Union will Vote against the Government at the forthcoming Presidential Elections Union Officials said.
