General Fonseka Announced His Willingness To Contest For The Presidency

Retired General Sarath Fonseka who is nominated by the Joint Opposition as their Common Candidate for the  Presidential Elections little while ago announced that He will Contest the forthcoming Presidential Elections.General Fonseka revealed this during his S peach at a Lawyers Meeting currently underway in Colombo.He further said that he will win the Presidential Elections and after his Victory he will work towards abolishing the Executive Presidency.


General Fonseka said that he has no intention to Enter Politics but forcibly pushing to it due to the Disappointed show by the Present Government.He also stressed that if he got a Clear Mandate and Abolish the Executive Presidency will decide the future course of Action according to Peoples Vote he received.


General Fonseka Made these Remarks with the Presence of the Leader Of Opposition  Ranil Wickremasingha,Several Opposition Members and the former Government MP and Lawyer Wijedasa Rajapaksha.


This is the first time General Fonseka Publicly spoken on his Political Interests since he Retirment from the  Chief Of Defense Staff  Post a Week ago.

Sri Lankan Presidential Elections To Held In 26th Of January 2010


Sri Lankan Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka today announced that the 07th Presidential Elections of Sri Lanka will held in 26th of January 2010.Handing over of the Nominations for the Election will accepted between 9 A.M to 11 A.M on  17th of December this year.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha who is having  another two years of Power on his first term of Presidency decided to hold Presidential Poll first ahead of the Parliamentary Elections.President Rajapaksha and the Common Candidate of the Joint Opposition Alliance the United National Front(UNF) Retired General Sarath Fonseka are the two main candidates contesting for the Elections.

Air Force MI-24 Attack Helicopter Crashed


An Air Force MI-24 Attack Helicopter has crashed in to a thick Jungle in 5 Kilo Meters North of  the Buttala Area of the  North Central Province this noon while involve in a Training Session and as a result 4 person in Aboard including the Pilot were died according to the Security Sources.

The Crash occured due to a Technical Failiure  Sources further added.

Sri Lankan Defense Ministry To Remove Road Blocks For VIP'S

Sri Lankan Defense Ministry today announced that the Roads will not  be closed for the VIP'S with the effect from today except for  President Mahinda Rajapaksha.Roads were closed in Colombo and other parts in the Country when the VIP'S are traveling  since nearly two decades due to Terrorist threats prevailed in the Country.Pedestrians  faced severe hardships due to these Road Blocks.

 This is the first time that  Government has decided to remove the Road Blocks since the Armed Forces defeated the LTTE in last  May.

UNP And Joint Opposition Is To Back General Fonseka As Common Presidential Candidate


Confirming the rumors of forwarding Retired Chief of Defense Staff General Sarath Fonseka as the Common Candidate of the Joint Opposition for the forthcoming Presidential Elections The 12 Party Member United National Front (UNF) Leader Ranil Wickramasinha today announced that his Party the United National Party(UNP) will back General Fonseka as the Common Presidential Candidate.

Few Party leaders of the United National Front and some Parliamentarians of the Main Opposition United National Party met with General Fonseka since yesterday in Colombo to discuss the  future activities.The leaders of Opposition Parties Sri Lanka Muslim Congress(SLMC),and National Democratic Front(NDF) are among the Party leaders who met General Fonseka.

Meanwhile the leader of the Peoples Wing of Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) MP Mangala Samaraweera said that his Party too back General Fonseka as the Common Presidential Candidate.Although General Fonseka is due to contest as the Common Candidate for the Presidency he is expected to contest under the banner of a Small Party of the Opposition Alliance and Political Experts says that The "Lalith Front" may be the choice.However the Party Leaders of the Alliance are now discussing with the Tamil United Liberation Front(TULF) Leader V.Ananda Sangaree to taking their Party Symbol the 'Rising Sun" as the New Political Symbol for General Fonseka.

Due to the unavailability  of these Drugs in Government Hospitals Doctors are prescribing these Drugs
for  the Patient to buy them  from the Private Sector.

JVP Also Announce General Fonseka As Their Presidential Candidate


The leftist Janata Wimukthi Peramuna(People's Liberation Front) today said that they are invited the Retired Chief Of Defense Staff General Sarath Fonseka to be their Common Candidate for the forthcoming Presidential Elections.JVP MP Anura Dissanayaka said that the talks with the General Fonseka regarding this is very Successful and his party will not discuss with the Main Opposition United National Party(UNP) who along with 11 other Party member Joint Opposition Alliance decided to present General Fonseka as their Common Candidate for the forthcoming Elections.

According to the MP Anura Dissanayaka any Party can provide their support to their Common Candidate. However General Fonseka who was retired from his Chief Of Defense Staff on last Monday still not make an official announcement on whether to enter  Politics.
