The Strike Action by the Plantation Workers demanding a Daily Pay of Rs.500 continues as the Talks between the Trade Unions and the Estate Owners ended without a positive outcome.
Meanwhile the Ceylon Workers Congress(CWC) which representing the large number of Plantation Workers in the Estates saying that the wages of the Workers should be increased at least to Rs.10,000 .Addressing a Press Briefing in Colombo the Leader of the CWC Arumugam Thondaman says that a Minor Staff Worker of the Government earned a Monthly Salary of Rs.13,500 and therefor the Plantation Worker should be given a Minimum Monthly Salary of Rs.10,000 .
The Estate Owners warns if this Strike Continues the Tea Industry which is one of the top Export Earners in the Island will suffer heavily.Already the Work of the Tea Plantations became slow after the workers turned out low due to the Trade Union Action.

12 People Died Daily In Sri Lanka Due To Suicides
Around 12 people died daily due to suicides in Sri Lanka and another 120 people are suffering Physical and Mental disabilities due to a failed Suicide attempts the Sumithrayo Group who are pioneers in Counseling Services of the Island said today.
According to the Chairman of the Colombo Branch of the Sumithrayo Group Mr.Jomo Udman a Person once attempted Suicide will vulnerable to attempt it again 100 times more than a normal person .Also studies show clearly that even More Females are considering Suicides it is Males who are died mostly due to Suicides.
These facts were revealed during a Media Conference held at Colombo Branch today regarding the International Suicide Prevention Day falls on 10th of September.

President And Defense Secretary Received Honorary Degrees
President Mahinda Rajapaksha and his brother and Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha were conferred Honorary Degrees of Doctor Of Law and Doctor Of Letters respectively during the Post Graduate Convocation of the University Of Colombo held this Evening at the BMICH in Colombo.
The President and the Defense Secretary were conferred these Honorary Degrees to Honor their contribution towards the ending of two decade long War in Sri Lanka.

Europen Union Says They Are Troubled Due To The Tissanayagam Verdict
The Judicial Decision to Convict Tamil Editor J.S Tissanayagam For 20 years of Imprisonment under the Terrorist Prevention Act was challenged by the European Union by a Declaration issued on Friday saying they are troubled by this Ruling.Editor Tissanayagam who was under Police Custody since March last year under the Charge of supporting Terrorism was sentenced to 20 years of Imprisonment by the High Court in Colombo last Monday.
His family says they already made an Apeal against the Courts Decision.Meanwhile Sri Lankan Foriegn Ministry has been taken steps to send the Court Decision of Tissanayagam to the European Union.

Health Ministry To Crush Local Purchacing Of Drugs By The Hospitals
Health Ministry is decided to supply all the Essential Drugs required by the Government Hospitals including the Expensive Drugs which are Currently local purchased by the Hospital Management or bought by the Patients with Immediate Effect.These Drugs will be supplied through the Medical Supplies Division of the Health Ministry.
This decision was taken to minimize the waste and corruption occurred while purchasing an Expensive Drugs through Local Purchase System by the Hospital Management according to the Health Ministry Sources.Large Amount of Money is expected to save through this measure according to the Sources.
The Treasury already agreed to facilitate this move by granting extra amount of Money.Recently the Government Medical Officers Associatiopn(GMOA) Announced an insect was found inside of a bottle of Omeprazole" Injection Vial locally purchaced by the Colombo National Hospital Authorities.

Treasury To Increased The Money Allocated For Health Sector
The Treasury agreed to Increased the allocated Money for the Health Sector Next Year(2010) from 3 times of the Amount allocated for this year Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said today.According to the available statistics the Health Sector will received Rupees 287 Billion next year from the Budget from this year's Rupees 89 Billion .
The Annual Budget will be presented to the Parliament on November this year.According to the Health Minister A Special grant will be allocated from this years budget for Treatment of Kidney Patients of the North Central Province.

Doctor Tried To Sexuallly Harassed A Pregnant Mother At A Hospital
A Doctor attached to the Sri Lanka's only Semi Government Hospital Sri Jayawardanapura Teaching Hospital in Colombo Suburbs was charged today on attempting to Sexually Harassed a Pregnant Mother admitted to the Hospital few days ago for her delivery.The Husband of the victim had lodged a Complaint yesterday on this incident to the Deputy Director Of The Jayawardanapura Hospital.
According to the Complaint the accused Doctor wants the Pregnant Mother to get checked on around 1 A.M on last Tuesday(01) and without calling a Nurse to aide the Doc himself checked her and during the Check Up he tried to Sexually Harassing her.Opposing to the Doctor's act the Victim was screamed and got relief after the Nurses of the Ward came to her.
The Husband of the Victim said even a Complaint was Lodged to the Deputy Director of The Hospital still no action is taken to inquire on the Incident.
