The Strike Action by the Plantation Workers demanding a Daily Pay of Rs.500 continues as the Talks between the Trade Unions and the Estate Owners ended without a positive outcome.Meanwhile the Ceylon Workers Congress(CWC) which representing the large number of Plantation Workers in the Estates saying that the wages of the Workers should be increased at least to Rs.10,000 .Addressing a Press Briefing in Colombo the Leader of the CWC Arumugam Thondaman says that a Minor Staff Worker of the Government earned a Monthly Salary of Rs.13,500 and therefor the Plantation Worker should be given a Minimum Monthly Salary of Rs.10,000 .
The Estate Owners warns if this Strike Continues the Tea Industry which is one of the top Export Earners in the Island will suffer heavily.Already the Work of the Tea Plantations became slow after the workers turned out low due to the Trade Union Action.
