Government Docs Called Off Their Token Strike

The Token One Day strike launched by the Government Hospital Doctors was called off this evening after President Mahinda Rajapaksha intervened and Solve the Doctors demand of re arranging the Post Internship Appointment List.The Strike which launched on 7 a.m this morning was called off around 2 in the Evening.

President Rajapaksha arranged an emergancy meeting with the officials of Government Medical Association(GMOA) and Helath Ministry this morning to look into Doctors demand.During the discussion President agreed to re arrenging the Post Interns List within a weak's time and ordered the Acting Health Secretary Dr.Nihal Jayathilake to presented him the re arranged list by this friday.This Meating last two hours and the result is encouraging according to the GMOA.

Meanwhile due to this morning's strike the OPD Clinics,Routine Surgeries and Treatment facilities are not performed amd large number of patients were faced hardships due to this.

Sri Lankan Cricket Team Having A Tough Time Witth Pakistani Counterparts

Sri Lanka were all out for 217 runs to day in the Third day of the First Test Match played against Pakistan at the Mahinda Rajapaksha Stadium in Galle Sri Lanka.They are leading only 167 Runs as all out in the First Innings to 247 Runs.Pakistan scored 342 Runs all out in their First Innings.

Pakistan is chasing 167 Runs to win the Match with two days to spare was 71 Runs for 2 Wickets at the close of the play today.They further need 97 Runs to win the Match.

Government Doctors To Launch An Islandwide Token Strike Tomorrow

Sri Lankan Government Doctors are to launch an Islandwide one day token strike tomorrow demanding the cancellation of the Post Internship Appointment list prepared by the Health Ministry.According to the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) there are irregularities happened when preparing this list and the list is politically influenced one.

The Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Upul Gunasekara said his Union appealed to Health Secretary last weak to cancel this Post Intern List but failed to getting a good response from him.Therefore there is no other option than launching a Doctors strike on this matter he stressed.

All Government Doctors except the Doctors attached to the Accident Service of the Colombo National Hospital.Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital,Castle Street Maternity,De Soyza Maternity and Cancer Hospital in Colombo will join tomorrow's strike he urged.The Doctors of these Hospitals are not join the Strike on Humanitarian Grounds he further added.

According to the GMOA Doctors will launch the Strike at 7 a.m tomorrow morning till 7 a.m on Wednesday morning.Emergency Services will functioning as usual during the Strike.

The Post internship List which is subjected to the Doctors Strike is prepared for the 232 Doctors who completed their Internship training in 04th of February this year.These Doctors are recruited to the IDP Camps in the North since last March.

A Viral Flu Similar To Dengue Is Spreading In The Western Province

Epidemiologists says that a Viral Flu which has similar Symptoms like in Dengue Fever is spreading throughout the Western Province these days.Around 50 Flu Patients suffering from this Flu were admitted to the Angoda Fever Hospital for Treatment.

A high fever lasted for few days,Headache and Body Pain are the main symptoms of this Flu and Patients may face difficulties like in Dengue due to the Body Pain doctors said.

Yaldevi Train Caught Fire

Sri Lankan Inter City Train Yal Devi which resumed it's operations to Northern Sri Lanka on last Month after absence of two decades caught a fire this morning while on their way to the North.The Fire damaged two Compartments of the Train and no one on the Board getting injuries according to the Railway Authorities.

The Fire was brought under control shortly after wards.The cause of the fire is not yet revealed.Yal Devi Train was not operating to the Northern Sri Lanka on last two decades due to the War prevailed there.

First Post War Military Casualty Of Sri Lanka Reported

One Sri Lankan Soldier was shot dead and two others were injured yesterday During a shootout with a LTTE Terrorist at the Eastern District of Batticloe.LTTE Terrorist was moving from a Boat to Kokkadicholai to Kirankulam in the Eastern Province through Batticloe Lagoon when the Soldiers ambushed him.

This is the first time that a Soldier was killed in Sri Lanka since the Government Forces had defeated LTTE Terrorism from the Island on last May.

LTTE Terrorist grabbed the Gun from the Soldier when they ambushed him and started shooting killing a Soldier and injuring another two. Terrorist too was got injured when the Army opened fire at him and taken him to custody afterwards.LTTE Cadre was identified as Neelarathnam Mohan.

Chaminda Vaas and Chief Cricket Selactor Are On War

A Confusion risen when the Sri Lankan Pace Bowler Chaminda Vaas and the Head Of the Cricket Selectors Asantha De Mel made different comments on the retirement of Vaas from the Test Cricket.Asantha De Mel said yesterday that theVaas told him on retiring of Test Cricket to concentrate more on One Day Cricket Matches.
Vaas the most experienced Pace Bowler in the Sri Lankan Team today, has denied that he was made any comment to the Mel regarding retiring from Test Cricket.Vaas was dropped by the Selectors for the ongoing Test Match Series here with Pakistan and also out looked during the Twnty-Twenty World Cup Tournment which ended recently.
