Anuradhapura Police Have Detained A 21 Year Old Youth With Heroin And Tramadol Pills In His Possession

Anuradhapura Police have detained a 21 year Old Youth with 20 Miligrammes of Heroin and 783 Pills of pain killer  Tramadol Pills  in his possession at Matale Junction in Anuradhapura(In North Central Province) this afternoon.

According to  Police the investigations have revealed that  detained youth had stolen the Tramadol Pills from a Drug Store in Matale Hospital.

Anuradhapura Police are currently conducting an investigations regarding the Suspect.

Presidnet Sirisena To Submit A Cabinet Paper To The Cabinet Tomorrow(18) To Abolish Executive Presidency.

Image result for government logoPresident Maithripala Sirisena is due to submit a Cabinet Proposal to abolish the Executive Presidency and to establish  a New Electoral System at the Cabinet Meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow(18).

According to the President the Cabinet Paper due to be submitted to the Cabinet tomorrow  suggesting to abolish Executive Presidency in the country and transfer it's powers to the Parliament.

After named as the Presidential Candidate of Common Opposition during last January's Presidential Election President Maithripala Sirisena has signed a memorandum of understanding with United National Party and other opposition parties belonging to Common Opposition in which he agreed to abolish the Executive Presidency,Establishing a New Electoral System and to amend the 18th Constitution .

After  as Elected as Executive President he has amended some powers vested to Executive Presidency through the 19th Amendment.The President also pledged at the Funeral of Late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero held on last Thursday he will abolish the Executive Presidency soon  as it was one of the requests late thero made to the current government.

The Executive Presidency established through the 1978 Constitution.

Sri Lanka Medical Association Has Requested Health Authorities To Take Action To Stop Using Children For Food Related Ads

Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) has requested the Health Authorities to take action  to stop using children for Food related Advertisements as Food Related Advertisements  castes by Children  proved to be the major force behind the spreading of many non communicable diseases among Sri Lankan Children .

According to the SLMA, Non Communicable Diseases like Diabetes,Obesity ,High Blood Pressure and Heart Diseases are on the increase among children in Sri Lanka due to the impact of such food related advertisements targeting child audience.

The Authorities should take an action to prevent using children for food related advertisements making to promote food items containing  higher percentage of Sugar ,Salt,Fats and Trans Fats SLMA has stressed.

Police Have Detained Two Ukrainian Nationals At Weligama ,Palana Beach With Drugs In Their Possession

The Police have today(16) detained two Ukrainian Nationals with 32 Grammes Of Marijuana( 13 Grammes) and Hashhesh(19 Grammes) in their possession at the Weligama ,Palana Beach(In Southern Province).

The Weligama Police have conducted the raid to arrest  two foreigners with drugs in their possession per a tip received by the Police.

The Suspects are due to be produced before the Matara Magistrate Court.

Eight LTTE Suspects Who Were In Jail Without A Trial Have Been Released On Bail

Eight LTTE Suspects detained under the Prevention Of Terrorism Act and were in jail for longer period without a trial have been granted Bail today(16) by Colombo Magistrate Court.

Earlier around 39 Suspects detained under the Prevention Of Terrorism Act have been released on bail last week .Although released on bail Colombo Magistrate Court has ordered them to submit a proof of residence and to appear before Terrorist Investigations Division on every Sunday.

The court has also barred the released suspects from going abroad .

Nearly 40,000 Affected And 3000 Have Been Displaced In Six Sri Lankan Districts Due To The Floods

Nearly 40,000 Persons reside in Six Districts of Sri Lanka have been affected due to the floods prevailing in those Districts following heavy showers according to Disaster Management Center(DMC).Nearly 3000 people have been reported as displaced in these Districts namely Jaffna,Kilinochchi,Mulativu,Puttalam ,Trincomalee and Gampaha Districts DMC has said.

Several Entry Roads to Jaffna (In Northern Province) too have been flooded and transport in those roads have  severely affected it has been reported.

During last 24 hours the highest Rain Fall was recorded from Jaffna according to DMC.

A Person With Around Rs.66 Million Worth Foreign Currency Notes In His Possession Has Been Arrested At Mattala Air Port

A person with around Rs.66 Million worth Foreign Currency in his possession has been arrested by the Sri Lankan Customs Officers  at Mattala International Air Port in Hambanthota(In Southern Province) this morning when he allegedly attempted to leave the country.

The 35 year old Suspect was arrested while he was prepared to board the flight to Dubai according to Customs Officers.

Around Ten Varieties Of Foreign Currency Notes including US Dollars,Euros,British Pounds,
Swiss Franks and Omani Riyals have been found in suspect's possession and Sri Lanka Customs Department is  carrying out an Investigation on the incident.
