An Army Officer Attached To Army Camp At Ampara Has Committed Suicide By Shooting Himself

An Army Officer attached to Konduwatawana Army Camp in Amapara District(In Eastern Province) has committed Suicide this morning by shooting himself from his official fire arm according to the Police.

The deceased Army Officer was a 27 year old resident of Mawathagama Area in Kurunagala District(In Eastern Province).

According to  Ampara Police the reason behind the Army Officer's suicide still not yet revealed.

Sluice Gates Of 12 Main Reservoirs Have been Opened To Prevent Overflowing Of Water

The Department Of Irrigation has taken steps to Open the Sluice Gates of 12 out of 73 Main Reservoirs in the Country to prevent overflowing of water due to the heavy showers prevails in these days.

According to the Department the Sluice Gates Of 12 Reservoirs situated in Six Districts namely ,Puttalam,Anuradhapura,Kurunagala,Batticloe,Hambanthota and Puttalam have been opened so far.

Due to the heavy showers prevailing  in most parts of the country these days  water levels of many reservoirs are on the rise according to the authorities.

Well Known Buddhist Monk Of Sri Lanka Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero Has Passed Away At A Hospital In Singapore

One of the well known Buddhist Monks in the country Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero the chief incumbent of 
  Kotte Naga Viharaya (Temple) has passed away this morning at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore while receiving treatment .for a severe ailment.

Venerable Sobitha Thero has underwent a Bypass Surgery recently at a Private Hospital in Colombo and as he has developed some complications afterwards government has sent him to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on last Tuesday(03) for further medical check-up.

The remains of the Maduluwawe Sobith Thero will be brought back to Colombo tonight from a Sri Lankan Flight UL-309.

The government has declared a day of National Mourning on this Thursday(12) as the final rites of Sobitha Thero will be performed at Parliamentary Grounds on that day .Government has decided to held a State Funeral for Venerable Sobitha Thero who was a key figure in the country spoke against fraud and corruption of the previous government .

Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka To File Legal Action Against Justice Minister

Justice Minister Wjedasa Rajapakshe has told last Friday that he will file a court case against Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka by claiming Rs.500 Million as damages for making defamatory statements against him regarding Avant Garde Floating Armory .

Field Marshal Fonseka has earlier accused Justice Minister Wijesada Rajapakshe for taking bribes to covering up Avant Garde Floating Armory Issue and called him as a thief .

Meteorology Department Has Requested From The Local Fishing Community To Avoid Going To East Coast OF Sri Lanka

The Department Of Meteorology has requested today (07) from the Local Fishing Community  to avoid going to the Sea off East Coast Of Sri Lanka because of the  strong winds due to occur  in that part of the country.
.
The thundershowers assisted with strong winds are expected in the area of 300 Kilo Meters in the center of east coast of Sri Lanka according to the Early Warning Center Of Meteorology Department.

Presidential Commission Of Inquiry Into Serious Acts Of Fraud ,Corruption And Abuse Of Power To Submit An Interim Report Regarding Current Progress Of Investigations To The President

The Presidential Commission Of Inquiry Into Serious Acts Of Fraud,Corruption And Abuse Of Power is due to submit an Interim Report  to President Maithripala Sirisena by next week regarding the current progress of ongoing investigations .

According to the Commission a report regarding one completed investigation also due to be submitted to the President.

Around 1200 Complaints regarding Serious Acts Of Fraud ,Corruption and Abuse Of Power have been received by the Commission up to now and only investigations into 50 complaints are currently active the Commission has said.Out of the 1200 Complaints Received 800 complaints have been forwarded for relevant investigations and 300 Complaints are not come under the jurisdiction of the Commission it has been reported.

The Commission is expected to complete the final report regarding ongoing investigations within one month period.

Constitutional Council Had Nominated Members For Five Commissions Formed Under The 19th Amendment

The Constitutional Council had nominated members for Five Commissions yesterday(06) namely Election,Audit,Finance,Procurement and Delimitation Commissions formed under the 19th Amendment.

The List Of Members nominated for these five Commissions has been sent to President Maithripala Sirisene for approval.

Four Commissions namely Bribery,Human Rights,National Police and Public Service Commissions have already commenced duties since President has approved it's members nominated by the Constitutional Council.
