Former UPFA MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon Has Been Remanded Until 20th Of October

Former United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon who was arrested by Criminal Investigation Division(CID) yesterday(06) has been remanded until 20th of October by the  Colombo Fort Magistrate today(07). 

CID had arrested former UPFA MP Tennakoon over an assassination of an individual in 1999.Former MP was in Private Hospital at the time of his arrest and the Colombo Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya had visited him this morning and ordered authorities to remand him until 20th of October. 

Five Year Old Girl's Rape And Murder Case-DNA Samples Taken From Main Suspect "Kondaya" Does Not Match Samples Found From Girl's Body-CID

DNA samples taken from  main suspect of five year  old Seya Sadewmini's rape and murder case Dunesh Priyashantha allias "Kondaya"does not match the DNA Samples taken from deceased girl's body ,The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has today (07) informed the Minuwangoda Magistrate.

CID has submitted the DNA Test Report of  "Kondaya" received from Genetech Research Institute  to the Minuwangoda Magistrate Court this morning.

"Kondaya" was arrested by CID on 03rd of October as the main suspect of Seya Sadewmini's rape and murder case and the suspect too accepted he has done the crime.

Meanwhile Kondaya's elder brother Saman Jayalath who was arrested on last Saturday too has told CID he has done the crime and both suspects have been remanded until 19th of October by Minuwangoda Magistrate after considering the facts produced by CID.


Gene tech Institute has taken DNA Samples from Kondaya's Elder Brother yesterday  for a test.

Sri Lankan Parliament was divided in to two factions today(06) when discussed about the implementing capital punishment for those found guilty of child and woman rape cases.

After Colombo District UNF(United National Front) MP Hirunika Premachandra was forwarded the  much talked about motion of implementing capital punishment to the parliament ,Parliament MP'S representing both government and the opposition expressed their views for and against the immediate implementing of capital punishment.

Speaking after forwarding  the motion of capital punishment ,MP Hirunika Premachandra has  said most people in the country feels  the capital punishment should not be implemented as it's goes against  Buddhist Culture."Religion and Law are two different subjects and they should not be combined together " she has said.

"The country will not develop if the law is not implemented properly.All who have feelings should support the capital punishment being implemented for those who are responsible for rape and killing of   children" MP Premachandra has stressed.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Has Addressed The Japanese Parliament

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasingha who is currently touring Japan  has today(06) addressed the Japanese Parliament "National Diet" and became the first Sri Lankan Head Of State to done so.

Prime Minister Wikramasingha became the third foreign head of state to be addressed Japanese Parliament after US President Barrack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi.

Trains On Northern Railway Line From Colombo Fort Terminated At Mahawa Due To A Derailment

The Trains on Northern Railway Line from Colombo Fort terminated at Mahawa Rail Station due to a derailment occurred between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola Railway Stations according to the Sri Lanka Railways.

Due to this derailment all four nigh mail trains scheduled  for today(06) between Colombo Fort to Kankasanthurai and Talaimannar have been cancelled and all the ticket money will be refunded Sri Lanka Railways has announced.Efforts are currently underway to resume train services on Northern Railway Line Railways has said.

Former UPFA Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon Has Been Arrested By CID

The former United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Janaka Bandara Tennakoon has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) this evening regarding assasinating an individual in 1999 according to his son Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon.

CID had taken a statement from the former minister this morning prior to his arrest.

Latest Suspect Arrested Over The Rape And Murder Of Five Year Old Girl Brought For DNA Test

Image result for genentech instituteThe latest suspect arrested in connection with rape and murder of five year old Seya Sadewmini of Kotadeniyawa has been brought to the Genetech Research Institute in Colombo this morning for a DNA Test according to the Police.

The suspect Saman Jayalath who is the elder brother of main suspect of the murder "Kondaya"has been reported as taken responsibility for the rape and murder of five year old girl.Earlier the suspect Kondaya has been remanded until 19th of October after he was taken responsibility of rape and murdering of the girl.

Both the suspect brothers are now in remand and due to be produced before Minuwangoda Magistrate on 19th of October.

Heavy Traffic Has Been Reported In Ward Place And Town Hall Due To A Protest

The youngest MP of the current parliament Hirunika Premachandra is due to present the  much awaited proposal on "implementing capital punishment for those responsible for sexual molestation of Children and Women " to the Parliament tomorrow(06).

MP Hirunika Premachandra who is the daughter of former MP in Kolonnawa(In Colombo District)Late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra is due to present the above proposal to parliament because the deputy minister MP Ranjan Ramanayaka who was due to present it earlier not able to do so per the  standing orders of Parliament.

A one day debate is due to be held on the above proposal after it presented to the Parliament.

Mental Disorders Amongst Sri Lankan Population Are On The Increase -Director Of National Institute For Mental Health

The mental disorders  amongst Sri Lankan Population are on the increase  due to the socio ,economic and family problems according to Director of National Institute Of  Mental Health Consultant Psychiatrist Dr.Kapila Wikramanayaka.

Around 20% to 25% of Sri Lankan Population is identified as suffering from some kind of mental disorder  and majority of them are minor mental disorders Dr.Wikramanayaka has said."Only 1% suffering from severe mental disorders and there's a  section which is suffering  from mental disorders related to stress conditions he has said.

Addressing a Media Workshop held at National Institute Of Mental Health in Angoda(In Colombo District) this morning Dr.Wikramanayaka has stated around 8000 persons with mental disorders are  being  admitted to the Institute annually and around 1000 of them are receiving treatment for a long period annually .

Addressing the Media Workshop consultant psychiatrist Dr.Jayan Mendis has appealed to  the public not to address persons suffering from mental disorders as mental patients as it's clearly a discrimination against  them."Identify them as normal human beings "he has said.

President Sirisena Will Bring Back Peace And Prosperity To Sri Lanka-Chief Minister Of Northern Province.

The Chief Minister Of Northern Province C.V Vigneshweran has said today(05) he is confident and hope President Maithripala Sirisene will bring back peace and prosperity to Sri Lanka.

"Some People in the country thinks the largest community should have stay  like a tree and the minorities should be  the branches of that tree.However the minority in Northern Province will not thinking like that" the Chief Minister has said at a function held in Kilinochchi Area(In Northern Province) today.

Eleven Unskilled Sri Lankans Who Had Gone To Kuwait From Tourist Visas Have Been Sent Back

Around 11 Sri Lankans who had gone  for jobs in Kuwait through  tourist visas have been sent back to Sri Lanka by the Kuwaiti Air Port Authorities.

These persons were left for Kuwait on 01st of October and there were children under five years amongs t them according to sources.The adults amongst them do not have any training to work in middle eastern countries it has been revealed.

The returnees are now staying at the "Sahana Piyasa" of Katunayaka Air Port premises and an inquiry is currently underway regarding   them.
