Out Of Those Suffering From Mental Disorders In Sri Lanka Only 20% Receiving Treatment-Health Minister
Addressing the 13th annual sessions of the Collage of Psychiatrists held in Colombo recently the Health Minister has stated that one person out of every ten persons in Sri Lanka is suffering from some kind of mental disorder and the reasons behind these mental disorders are complex.
Due to the Tsunami Disaster in 2004 and the war in north and east the mental health status of most of the people have been deteriorated and an active action plan needed to be implemented to solve this situation Minister Senaratne has further added.

Sri Lanka now in the fourth position among the countries that have highest suicide rates in the world according to WHO.
Liquor Addiction too contributed greatly to the rising number of suicides in the country and the latest statistics available in Ministry Of Health has shown that around 50% of the Sri Lankan Population is addicted to liquor."Liquor Addiction caused some mental disorders and it ended up with suicide "the Health Ministry has stated.
Group Of Residents Has Been Blocked The Colombo-Awissawella Main Road By Protesting Against The Reopening oF Road
The protest has created a huge traffic in the area it has been reported.
Due to the re opening of the main road after last Sunday's incident ,there's threat of looting properties in the area by thieves as the debris still not being removed from houses the protesting residents have stated.
The Colombo-Awissawella main road was closed by the military on last Sunday eveing soon after the fire had broken out at salawa Army Camp as a security measurre.The closed road has been reopened for traffic from yesterday(07) evening.
However due to the protest of residents the Military has decided to open the main road only for residents in the area and for military personal until the fire debris has been completeely removed from houses.
